It's not a seplat oil rig. It's a depthwise oil rig working for seplat. Depthwise is a Nigerian drilling company. These guys like many other Nigerian drilling contractors bring in near dead rigs which are twice as likely to fail or suffer an accident

Hmmm ... collapse as in a building collapse? ... if yes.... then that's not an accident... it's negligence. I blame the agency responsible for making sure the rigs meet and maintain the standard requirements.

Be reasonable please! This is an industrial accident, and not all causes are foreseeable. Industrial accident happens globally. Until they do an RCA, then they can know what went wrong

So I can bet that this accident is not common and probably the first time it's happening in some years now. Isn't that a testament to some form of good safety too?

The course of the rig collapse should be investigated properly.

Seplat should remember that the purpose of accident investigation is not to indict or punish anyone but to avoid repeat of such.
Investigation will help the safety department to do more for the workers.

This is a regulatory system failure. Nigeria failed them is not an understatement but the right thing to say is that the government failed them.
