Exit Interviews Should be Used Appropriately.

It is a normal culture for HR professionals to conduct Exit Interviews for Employees who are leaving the organization as this is a common practice in many organizations.

A question comes to mind What the purpose of these interviews is for if they are not used to effect the necessary changes in the organisation?

Exiting employees most times will tell you the main reason for leaving because they have nothing to lose, hence they will tell you all the ill cultures of your organization, why not use such to get the right information to start effecting some changes to reduce the employees turnover; some even use exit interviews against the said employees, especially during a reference check.

Exit interviews should not be done for formality's sake, use that information to make a difference.

it is mostly for formality sake because most time the company already know about the issue most existing staff raised

Some/Most HRs are arrogant and doesn't take to corrections on a normal day, so exit interviews won't make much difference. They can also Bleep you up if you plan to use them as your next reference, so it's better to keep mute.

Most Nigeria companies just tick the box to fulfill all righteousness. There are not bothered to re-evaluate it.

Most disgruntled staff will not tell you what you need to do right. They want the company to continue on the downward spiral. More so, they might need a reference later and they do not want to make their supervisor take revenge on them.

Exit interview is mostly ineffective. It is a matter of just smiling to the camera.

I think it's a good idea.
But the truth is most organizations already know informally what's wrong as regards staff relations. But will choose not to change for reasons best known to them
