How old are you? Do you also have an international passport? 8M is enough.

But go and change it to Euros and save it in your bank account, to preserve its value because you may wake up tomorrow and Biafran pounds is worth more than naira.

You don't have a bachelor degree, and you are targeting a high-demand region. Hair styling or barbing is not a skill that immigration authorities will issue a work visa for. You wrote WAEC nine years ago. Let's say you were 18 years old, then you are almost 30 now. The question is: which European university will admit a 30-year-old man into a BSc program? Two, visa issuance. Almost a week ago, people were lamenting on Twitter that Polish embassy's officials in Nigeria were demanding bribes before issuing a visa interview date. Interview o, not the visa itself. Getting a student visa to European countries is tough to come by these days, let alone for someone without a bachelor degree.

Let's be frank here, your options are limited, and Europe is not one of them. So, what next? Target countries where your 8M can go a long way. Like Pansophi.st said, change it to dollars or euros to preserve the value. Learn Portuguese or Spanish and target countries in South America. Universities in Brazil are free regardless of nationality. Other South American countries have tuition fees but lower for foreigners than Europe. Mexico is a good one, but courses are taught in Spanish.

Alternatively, enrol into a program in Nigeria to attain first-degree status, then apply for an MSc program at universities in selected South American countries. Not all are worth it, so choose wisely. To me, your major obstacle is your lack of a bachelor degree, not even your choice of Europe or 8M naira.

Lastly, do not, I reiterate, do not go through the tourist visa option. You will be duped, you won't enter the country, and you will be banned forever. Don't give any agent a kobo of your money. The information is online.

I use PC to access Nairaland these days, which is why I can write so much. Frequent commenting on Nairaland has improved my writing skills. Through this experience, I performed well in my first job after university and got a freelance role at a US science advocacy website. When I scored 28/30 in TOEFL's writing section, I smiled. Also, I have benefitted a lot from other Nairalanders who proffer legit info and advice. So, by doing the same, I am paying it forward and for posterity's sake. Finally, I can talk a lot. As an alternative, I opt to write.

I noticed recently that I have started writing precisely or at least I like to think that I have started. I mean you can't be reading writeups from Pansophist and LordAdam16 and you wouldn't be fluent or at least try.

Read and write everyday, its that simple.

If you read my comments from 2014 when I registered this account, I write like shit. Well not bad per se, but its a massive difference between now and then.

I did not go to any writing class, I just read every day and write almost every day. I read mostly though, so like four hours every day I am reading. I have apps on my phone from which I read daily in intervening periods such as waiting for an appointment, before I sleep off, on the train, etc.

Practice makes perfect is true.

What are those things that you read?

Reading is theoretical, writing is practical. If your strategy is to write better, then you must write constantly. Reading is like acquiring ingredients, writing is actually cooking the soup.

We may both have the same ingredients, and I'll cook better than you simply because of my experience with cooking. It's same with writing.

Writing forces you to think, because as you try to pen down complex thoughts in words, you'll delve into hypotheses, phrasal idioms, synonyms, parables, proverbs, and even word etymology.

Also, the goal of an effective writer is to transfer emotions to the reader. Have you ever read something before that made you cry? Yes, that's the work of an effective writer.

An effective writer also can manufacture or merge words on their own, even if the word doesn't exist, and the reader would be able to understand the meaning of the word based on its contextual usage.

About what I read, it's not specific. I read diverse subjects of my interest such as human psychology, philosophy, geopolitics, human behaviors, and business.

Also, I make sure I read from diverse individuals in my field of interest, giving me the advantage to forge my own unique idiolect, which is a fusion of every other idiolect of writers I read from.

Now do this everyday for at least a decade, and you'll be a god in writing. It will come naturally to you, and people will just love to read and hear from you.

Aunty magnoliaa come and learn
