all you stated above doesn't reckon with human development, all he did was build like a structural engineer, most of these edifices were meant to satisfy the aristocrats. What was his impact on education, agriculture, technological innovations? The only area I can give him plus is his defence philosophy which other governments anchored their strength, still at that the defence was to protect him from being toppled as many criminals like Anini and others held sway during his regime. Also his regime saw to the increase in cult activities in Nigeria. He started the idea of borrowing Nigeria into poverty, hence our lenders determined the type of projects to be executed, knowing that it's their engineers that will do the projects. See a report on Babangida's body language towards education:The introduction of the Structural Adjustment Program (SAP), by the Babangida and other regimes, further undermined Nigeria's education sector. There was a reduction in workers in the education sector. The schemes reduced government funding in the education sector and parents had to bear the burden of their children's education and were unable to pay due to the regressive effects of the PAE. Children went to school without the necessary educational material, because their parents could not afford it. Students who were able to complete their school program were unable to obtain employment. Thus, education lost its potential value. (Jatau, 2014a; Omolewa, 1995). It is also worthy to note that the military does not like any project that will liberate the minds of the people, as they see it as what could create affront to their reign, just like Kim jong un is doing in North Korea

Nigeria's development started during the military era. In fact, as a nation we achieved and became the best among committee of sovereign states.
But now, under democracy. We are stagnant, and have started deteriorating. angry

Some people will say "the worse civilian government is better than the military rule" Na lie! That's why coup d'etat is fast returning to Africa. Politicians are scam and pen rubbers. embarassed sad

LOL, there is NO SUCH THING AS a benevolent dictator. All dictators are harsh rulers

And all of them the world over have been bad. The only good ones were people like Park of South Korea, who took Korea from third world to manufacturing exporter, Lee Kwam Yew, and even someone like Stalin (withcaveats).

Most dictators, especially the African ones, have been godawful.

IBB did not make our economy better. We were still bad when he left office.
ibb delivered more projects to Nigerians from 85-93 than 99-present, ghaddafi late and kagame of Rwanda re benevolent dictators, democracy in Nigeria is just freedom to looting of public funds and corruption in high places to enrich the elites and keep the masses in perpetual and multinational poverty, there has been more political killings of Nigerians in democracy than dictatorship, there has been more of insecurity in democracy than dictatorship, who has made the economy better in democracy? During Abacha the dollar never moved an inch, we only had sanctions from western world that was biting us, those whom accused Abacha on abuse of human rights should hide there faces in shame eg fmr efcc boss has been in detention for 60days without charge, a former governor was caught on camera the video was on pubic notice stuffing thousands of dollars in his Babariga he collected as kick back bribe from a contractor, but he got court order to stop any probe against him and it stood, it cannot happen anywhere except Nigeria, which has become one of the most unfortunate country in the world.

Oga, the same level of stealing happened under army rule...LIVE.

And some of the civillian actors seamlessly moved over to civillian rule and continued the show. Even many of the ex-army boys became politrickans and leaders under the new civllian rule (Buhari had at least 2 old army boys in his government).

Stealing happened live. Corruption happened live. Under Army rule. It was not just oga at the top that was doing the stealing self.

And the stealing was massive...see how we are still trying to find the money Abacha looted over time?

I don't like Ebola, or our civillian rulers...infact I agree with you on their corruption. Bery well. But to say that Army rule...only a few stole. ......is a compound lie.
Very true.

I am not sayings he is a perfect leader but the best leader, his 8 years rule is far better than the 24 year democracy we have now, the evidence is for all to see, Nigeria stopped progressing after he left office, as a matter of fact Nigeria started retrogressing.

Finally, don't just assume everyone is a kid on this forum, I might be older than you...I was born in the late 70's and experienced both the military rule and democracy...I am talking from experience, we had no social media back then to push propaganda and fake news around...and in the 2000s we paid to learn how to browse the internet that was a little faster than a snail grin grin grin and paid to open an email address grin grin grin see how time flies grin grin grin
I can relate with your points. I was born in the early eighties, and I can tell that milatry govt ran a more stable economy than what these roughish politicians are doing now, in fact Nigerian society as whole had modicum of sanity then. because of instant prosecution of criminal activities by the military, every body was afraid to step out of line. Then the community had power to deal with anybody that posed a threat to them. Armed robbers excited thru public firing squad in their community to set a moral example to their people. I can recall "boys oyee" in onitsha and abs then, A community drive to flush out criminals by destrying hotels that harbour them. But now just catch an armed robber, then police will even arrest you self and release the thief. Men, Nigeria is retrogressing at fast rate, thanks to the so called democracy.

Ì lived during those times at it was nothing to remember.

Nigeria under him severally was rated no.1 for corruption globally.

Inflation under him for some years were over 50%. The Naira faced constant depreciation due to the government dependence on ways and means (printing money) to finance spending.

Under him, the strict town planning that existed in Lagos state before him was bastardized and that was when Victoria Island moved from being a residential neighborhood to commercial.

The present crop of extremely corrupt politician the country has today were basically molded by IBB.

He could have achieved 10 times more.

Nothing to congratulate him for.

In Argentina, there was a leader who built a lot of stuff. A lot of facilites and a lot of things. People still hail him till today. His building spree also left a magnificent debt that they are still struggling with and have been since the eighties.

Oga, I also don't consider Buhari a good leader, plus I am not defending Buhari, never will...so try another line.

Plus IBB increased our debt too. And left us with liabilites.

You guys should stop defending past and present Nigerian leaders.

IBB na patriot with his own flaws.. but the man tried for Nigeria compared to all these democratic leaders stealing and looting like it's no man's business. Money you can't spend in heaven or hell or wherever you land in the afterlife, you're stealing with pen, awon pen robbers.

You hateful Okoro now prefer Military rule because it is glaring that there's no partway to you becoming president shortly under democracy, hence your subtle gloating over the IBB regime.

You hate IBB and expect Ibos to hate him too because he dealt with yoruba leaders. But you love Buhari and voted him TWICE even though he is is a known anti-Igbo ethnic nepotist and hater who arrested Alex Ekwueme the Igbo VP but put his Fulani his brother President Shagari under house and was visiting him at night so they can chew gworo together. Laughable morons. Who is fooling who? grin

Your propaganda is dead on arrival, love who you want, hate you want but never drag other into your propaganda and campaign..
Make everybody carry him cross.
