In Africa today, we no longer pray for a Patrice Lumumba or a Thomas Sankara. We're just praying for our normal mediocre leader to emerge, rape and loot our nations in cahoot with imperial powers, but at least, let them emerge through popular vote in free and fair elections. We're already complacent with mediocrity and remaining at the base of humanity ladder as Africans. Colonialism really affected the African psych. Would our ancestors have tolerated poor, mediocre leaderships in precolonial times? Why would African governments favor only the political class and the whiteman? Some of us do not have issues with the type of government if they come in the mold of a Thomas Sankara or Patrice Lumumba. African resources must be used for the good and advancement of Africans. All across Africa lies immense wealth for her peoples to be the wealthiest on earth, but a wily whiteman out of the traditional whiteman's greed has commandeered them all in connivance with a handful of men while Africa's majority live in squalor.

If democracy is the best for Africa, why are Africa's brightest minds always schemed out in elections? Why would a Ahmadu Bello defeat an Aminu Kano despite the immense support of the Talakawa? Why would a Tafawa Balewa defeat an Awilowo? And why would a Buhari defeat a Jonathan? Despite most of these being mediocre leaders below the class of the Sankaras and Lumumbas, why can't we get simple elections right in Africa?
