Four Siblings Trapped To Death As Building Collapses In Enugu by Thonyb2: 4:48pm On Sep 02, 2023
Tragedy struck in Mgbemena, Coal Camp, Enugu North Local Government Area of Enugu State as a building which collapsed on Friday claimed the lives of four siblings.

The chairman of the Enugu Capital Territory Development Agency (ECTDA), Hon. Uche Anya, who visited the scene of the incident, expressed his condolences.

Anya described the loss of innocent children in the tragedy as heartbreaking.

He disclosed that the structure was originally approved for animal husbandry but was converted into a residential building, expressing concern over the unsuitability of the collapsed building for human habitation.

β€œWe immediately responded to the incident upon receiving the information. Unfortunately, four children lost their lives in this tragic event.

β€œThe construction of this building was irresponsible. It was never meant to be occupied by humans. I urge you to visit the site and witness it for yourselves,” he said.

The ECTDA chairman further emphasized the agency’s commitment to raising public awareness about the importance of living in safe and conducive environments to prevent future incidents like this.

We have zero Consequence Management in this country.
As usual, a panel of enquiry will be set up.... & at the end, everything is forgotten and we await the next tragedy.
Nobody is prosecuted.

RIP to the dead.

No state in Nigeria has a quick emergency response team. This type of news will spark outrage elsewhere.

As the saying goes, you can't evade death. Each day, we face life-threatening challenges in our quest for survival, but eventually, death will come knocking. May their souls find eternal peace.

What of their families? How would they feel now? God
So sad when people just lose their lives while searching for daily bread.

May our enemies not jubilate over the news of our death
