Bariba tribes are still existing! They are currently split among three states of Kwara, Niger and one other. In Kwara, they have two local governments - Baruten and Kaiama LGAs. In Niger, they form the Borgu Kingdom. Where do you think Tinubu got his title, Jagaba Borgu from? From the former King of Borgu in Niger, of course. From the King of the Bariba people. Even they have an indigenous presence in Benin Republic as Bartoun people

Originally, they were one of the non Yorùbá provinces that make up Old Oyo Empire along with the Dahomey, Nupe (Tapa), etc until they gained their independence and formed Old Borgu Kingdom
