Napoli and Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has said his Ballon d'Or nomination is a dream come true for him.

Osimhen was nominated for the 2023 Ballon d'Or after an exceptional season with Napoli that saw him lead the club to their first Scudetto in over 30 years.

Osimhen also became the first African in history to win the Serie A Golden Boot, scoring 26 goals in 32 appearances.

Speaking to reports in Uyo, Akwa Ibom, Osimhen opened up on his feelings about being nominated.

“I must say it is a dream come true for me. It is a big honour for me and my family,” Osimhen told reporters

“I have worked so hard for a moment like this and I must say it is a reward for all the years of hard work and dedication.

“This can only spur me to do better and get more recognition.”

Osimhen will be looking to fire Nigeria to victory against Sao Tome and Principe
