Show me a governor who got elected and never donated stuff to the police immediately on assumption of office. And I will show you a virgin in a labour room.

By far, the easiest way to recover election funds.

As many times as possible. Infact we are still very very underpoliced.

I went to drop off an item at the challenge bus terminal yesterday and two of the police vehicles there were presented to them when Seyi Makinde got into office.

One sports car which was 100 cars in a batch, and another JAC truck which was presented to all Divisional police offices. About 74. Meaning each truck for one police station statewide.

That tells you the Federal government that owns the police do not fund them the way it should and state Govornors are now stepping to bridge the Gap

Means as big as Oyo state is,with a population of almost 10Million,we only have 74 police stations which is very very small.

So they need more man power. More officers and more cars and trucks as many as they can get.

When we talk about security of lives and properties in Europe and America, they invested heavily in it and not the nonesense we do here

Level of crime in Ekiti is on the low side, the police service is a FG parastatal and is mainly funded by the FG, so what’s the catch in this generous gesture towards the police by state governments every now and then? My instinct tells me they use this exchange to steal money… it smells corrupt, it looks corrupt and all parties involved are corrupt so…!

You won't see any South East governor doing this.. It's to be whipping tribal sentiments upandan to deceive their gullible people they are good at. Tell them Yorubas are the source of their backwardness and watch them cheer on with glee.

Good governance starts from Local govt., then State govt. before you talk of FG.

Otti donated vehicles recently.
As for Uzodinma, if you see what he donated to the Police the last time, it was massive. APCs alone were almost a dozen.
I'm aware that Soludo also donated.
All these within the last 1 year.

My issue with Nigeria's Police is that give those police guys just 3 months and you will pity the state of those vehicles when you see them.

If you want to know the poor maintenance culture of Nigerians just take a look at the Nigeria Police's patrol vehicles.
Police vehicles tend to have that problem everywhere because of the use they're put to. They have to be replaced quite often. You're right about our maintenance culture though.

You shouldn't blame them for that.

Blame the government for not making provision for the maintenance of these vehicles. Instead they prefer to spend billions procuring new vehicles every now and then.

There is a hope of better Nigeria if everyone can be faithful at their posts, particularly the governments and the militaries. If they reorient both the livers and the biles inside of them and come about fixing the money looters and corruption inclined whosoever, the country will move forward. The new gadget is not meant for any police office to take it home and show family member new car God has provided for them (just said sarcastically). If they really value it, It's expected they use it base on the purpose it's been provided. If all the allocations are well distributed to the appropriate sectors without selfish interest, don't you picture a better Nigeria. And this can be done if Nigerians changes their thinking as regard "one chance opportunity for them to get wealth even though it's illegal". If you are given opportunity to head a place, trust it won't occur to you as a medium to retaliate all those previously lived poverty lives?
(That's Rhetorical)

If the police force is well funded, do governors need to purchase vehicles and equipments for them? If we have strong institutions, such things do not need to happen. This is one of the reasons the high and mighty have the security agencies in their pockets.

Our country needs strong institutions. That way everyone mind their businesses and things can be done in the proper way.
