You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?

Many people are familiar with this statement. It is usually used to express the originality of ones character. People believe that the character of someone tells a lot about the personality of the person. Jesus was telling his desciples about how they can detect a fake character. Jesus said " You will recognize them by their fruits". The fruit here represents their character.

What Jesus is trying to make us understand is deeper than what many of us know. A fruit is the by-product of a plant. The process of making a fruit out of a plant is not made in the open ( where everyone sees ) instead is made in the secret where anyone would hardly notice the process of formation of the fruit. Just as fruit is the by-product of a plant so is character the by-product of human beings.

Character is the mental and moral qualities distinctive to an individual. One can also say It is the way of act of an individual. It takes time for a fruit to be formed but when it is formed everyone sees it and it can not be hidden. Character has the same resemblance with fruit, even though it takes time for character to form, but when it's formed it becomes a act in a man's life that can not be hidden.

it is important to note that both character and fruit have different stages of development. We have a stage of "developing" and a stage of
"Maturity". At the stage where character/fruit is "developing" character/fruit can be hidden or faked by human being, it is only at the stage where it is "matured/developed" that they can not be faked. Here everybody sees who you are.

Therefore, it is important we know what Jesus was trying to tell us when he said " By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?". The fruit/ character that Jesus is referring to is the type that can not be faked because it is fully developed and therefore can not be faked. These kind of fruits/ character are usually done in secret by the perpetrator. Jesus is saying that when you get the [b]secret character (what man does when no one watching) then you have gotten his true personality that is original and not faked. This is what he encourages us to go for!!!!

Jesus said such a branch is FAKE so it will be cut off and burnt! John 15:6

A tree has two things: GIFTS and FRUIT

GIFTS are the side attractions found in any tree like appearance, fragrance, leafage, strength, height, width and so on. Different trees in the forest do have similar GIFTS that's why Jesus emphasized on the FRUIT because two different trees can never ever produce the same FRUIT.

FRUIT is the product of a tree and it's in this fruit that SEEDS are found to generate or plant the same tree elsewhere.

What are the GIFTS found in Jesus' tree?
They are faith healings, speaking in tongues, melodious songs of praise, large fellowship in number, beautiful worship centers and so on.
All these could be found in other religions just as GIFTS in different trees are similar.

What is the FRUIT found in Jesus' tree?
According to Jesus himself he commanded his disciples to go preaching, teaching and making more disciples who will in turn continue with the work {Matthew 28:18-20} if his disciples continue in this routine they will fetch disciples in all the earth who will also be doing exactly the same thing {Act 1:8} that is what the people living in Antioch observed before they started calling Jesus' disciples "CHRISTIANS" Act 11:26

So Jesus said there will be false prophets (fake religious leaders) forming churches here and there {Matthew 7:15} but how will interested persons figure out those belonging to Christ Jesus? Jesus himself answered:
"By their fruits you will know" Matthew 7:16
Because it will be extremely impossible for any fake religion to produce followers who will be zealous preachers and industrious teachers like he did! Matthew 7:17-18

So any religion can perform SIGNS and WONDERS but if the adherents aren't doing the WORK Jesus assigned to his disciples such a religion has nothing to do with Jesus no wonder he said:

“Not everyone saying to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the Kingdom of the heavens, but only the one doing the will of my Father who is in the heavens will. Many will say to me in that day: ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and expel demons in your name, and perform many powerful works in your name?’ And then I will declare to them: ‘I never knew you! Get away from me, you workers of lawlessness!’ Matthew 7:21-23

So it's only those WORKING that has true faith! James 2:18-26

I believe by "doing the works assigned to his disciples" you mean evangelising the gospel?

Most denomination preach of the kingdom of heaven according to verse 7. They also engage in healing the sick raising the dead, driving out demons etc.

Do you do those in Jehovah witness. Or you just claim yours is the perfect one and others are sinners?

The first century Christians weren't members of different religions claiming denominations rather they have the same line of thought {John 17:22; 1Corinthians 1:10; Ephesians 4:3} that's known to all observers that's why they were referred to as CHRISTIANS! Act 11:26

So mention your religion for everyone to know what you believe don't hide under anonymous claiming denominations there's no such thing in true religion!

In addition to stating that by their fruits you shall know those who belong to Him from those who do not belong to Him, Jesus Christ also said the following:
▣ Those who love Him are those who obey His teachings and commandments, God's Law in the Kingdom of God - John 14 vs 15 - 25
▣ Those who abide in Him— through continuous obedience to His teachings and commandments —, He will abide in, and they are those who will bear fruit. - John 15 vs 1 - 11
▣ Those who do as He commands will do the good works He did and even greater - John 14 vs 1-12
▣ Those who seek first the Kingdom of God and God's righteousness will have all these things — the blessings and rewards of the Kingdom of God— added to them. - Matthew 6 vs 25 - 33

From the above, one can see that when Jesus Christ was speaking of the bearing of good fruits, He was speaking of the doing of works of righteousness(good) which is pleasing to God and this can only be accomplished by those who live their lives in obedience of His teachings and commandments. So, obedience to the teachings and commandments of Jesus Christ — not to be confused with the lies that are the doctrines and traditions of your pastors and mogs — becomes what one ought to look for in another potential follower of Jesus Christ. And the fruit of obedience is God's kind of righteousness which is pleasing to God.

Jesus has just one group doing his father's will and it's important we IDENTIFY that group in the midst of thousands of sects all claiming worshipers of God with contradicting teachings and conflicting doctrines!
