I disagree - this is echo chamber effect. There are millions of urbane well educated people who could not find any clear reason to vote for LP ( or even for anyone else for that matter). This is certainly true of my own network which is also an echo chamber.

Obi won almost 90% of a region and many end sars inspired youth. But bearing in mind that Nigeria has a large youth population, the overall turn out is indicative of indifference across the entire voting spectrum. Many young people were not enthused with any of the candidates. To have won this election the LP party would need to increase the turn out by at least 20%. This did not happen - the turn out was worse than 2019 and much worse than 2015.

And you forgot that BAT/Alliance for democracy won by almost the same margin in the SW region in 1999?

And you forgot that ACN controlled the SW between 2007 and 2014 by around the same margin?

And you forgot that BAT’s “life long ambition” to become the President, saw him merge ACN, as the leader with CPC controlled by Buhari? Otherwise PDP would still be in power and ACN remain a regional party.

Most of your arguments above are polar demagoguery. You are layering a simple fact with unnecessary detail in order to answer a simple question.

No other candidate had such a lopsided result of almost 80-90% in his region which was not repeated elsewhere- hence LP is a regional party. That's not an insult but a reality. AD had the same in 1999 -2015. There is no disgrace in being a regional party. The question is how do you build this out? You can't keep people energized with anger for 4 years.

You talked about a youth vote and I replied that the youth vote was not a national event. If it had been, 75% of national population ( representing the established youth vs others demographics) this would have translated into an increased turn out of total numbers of voters. This did not happen. Voter numbers were abysmally low - indicating that a large number of youth were not enthused by the candidates. Many talked about what they might do but the reality is they did not vote. It is trite politics to know that to remove an incumbent you must either a) Turn out significant amount of new votes or b) the incumbent party votes do not turn out.

Nearly all of LP votes ( especially among second and third time voters) were from ex PDP voters which meant the 2015 and 2919 PDP vote was split while the incumbent held its vote together. Result a win for the incumbent.

On the matter of the educated Nigerian voting for the LP there are no statistics to prove this for any party. It is merely an idea - an unproven one. Or perhaps you want to use Lagos to prove this?

Ok so lets move to Lagos. Obi won the Presidential election in Lagos the stronghold of the APC - let's assume that outside the SE this was LP's best performance. Given this, does it not surprise you that LP won no senatorial seats in the same Lagos and only one or two HoR seats? Does it not surprise you that his win did not translate to senatorial and HoR numbers? The answer is twofold spread and tactical voting. He did not win across enough senatorial zones to win a single senatorial seat. This phenomena was repeated across the country. No spread. The way the writers of the Constitution framed it - spread is more important than regional numbers. No one can win the election without winning or holding the 25% line in 2/3 of the States. Lagos also showed tactical voting by people who voted for Obi - many of them did not vote LP top to bottom. They voted LP but voted senators and HoR differently - is this ending the educated vote?

Obi himself never averred in his petition that he won the election. He never produced any evidence to this effect. He simply said Tinubu should be disqualified

The court disagreed. Simple.

When Olu Falae lost against OBJ.. Soyinka didnt say anything, he supported Olu Falae to go to court and challenge his mandate.

When OBJ and Yar’dua defeated Buhari, he went to court and Soyinka didnt say GMB lost.. he allowed the court process to take its course.

When Obi lost against Tinubu…he followed the law like Olu Falae and Buhari…Soyinka started attacking Obi and his supporters .. by making sub judice statements.. even though he’s neither a lawyer nor a judge. He called his supporters tribal even though PO won 12states.
