Pulse Sports reports that Nine boxers traveled to Dakar to represent Nigeria in the qualifications; eight advanced to the quarterfinals, six to the semifinals, and three to the final, and all three won gold medals after defeating their opponents.

Cynthia Ogunsemilore's quest to triumph began with a titanic clash in the Women's 60kg category against Algeria's Khelif Hadjila. The Nigerian powerhouse left no space for doubt, claiming the first gold medal for Nigeria in the competition with a stunning unanimous decision victory (5-0).

When Joshua Omole entered the ring to face Ethiopia's Leta Yadesa in the Men's 57kg category, he picked up where Ogunsemilore left off. With unwavering tenacity, Omole won a unanimous decision (5-0) and the featherweight gold medal.
