If obassanjo had supported Ibori to be President instead of Jonathan after the demise of Yaradua, would the duo of Buhari and Tinubu have been able to unseat him(Ibori) as Incumbent President?

I need your candid opinion on this!

The north would have been more at home with ibori than gej. Likewise tinubu. Ibori is a smarter politician than gej.

I don't know about the North, but I'm sure he would have played smarter politics with the Yorubas and Tinubu than Jonathan did

One thing i noticed in power is that outgoing Presidents and governors generally don't like supporting candidates that they deem powerful because they feel it would be difficult to exercise some level of control on them, Reason why OBJ supported the weaker candidate, Buhari supported the weaker candidate Osibanjo, Obaseki is failing ti support philip shaibu and its the Same Reason why Ibori supported Okowa over victor Ochei. But they end up being disappointed in the end because those they consider weak aren't really weak in the sense of it.

Ibori may have remained loyal to OBJ unlike Jonathan and they may have gone ahead to stop APC in 2015 together

Yeah, Disregarding OBJ and Tinubu at the same time was a gamble taken too far.
He wasn't a real politician btw, he rose to stardom by assuming power on the demise or impeachment of his running mates, so no surprises. He lacked in strategic thinking

Its public knowledge Sir, but that's not the topic of discussion here. Do you think Tinubu and Buhari would have been able to stop Ibori from his second term in office. Even while i think it was unwise for Jonathan to have gambled with OBJ and Tinubu at the same time, Ibori would have been more strategic going into the elections even without yoruba support unlike Jonathan.
Re: Would Ibori Have Lost The 2015 Elections To Buhari If He Was Sitting President? by ValarDoharis: 3:29pm On Sep 19, 2023
First of all, under no circumstances should we consider convicted criminals for leadership positions.

Secondly, the reason GEJ lost is because of tribalism and religious sentiments.

Thirdly, Nigerians are the most docile people on earth, taking rubbish from politicians because of primordial sentiments .

Considering Obansanjo's travails in the hands of his Vice while in office, he carefully avoided a situation where Yaradua will be burdened with same circumstances. So he opted for a Vice who'll be loyal enough to Yaradua so they could both function in harmony. James Ibori did not fit that description.

But had it happened, Ibori would have preferred to let dogs and baboons get soaked in blood than relinquish Aso rock as an incumbent.

You're wrong with your second paragraph.

Jonathan did not lose because of tribalism and religious sentiments.

Jonathan lost because even we in the SS voted against him. Insecurity and corruption were considered to be so widespread that we believed he wasn't doing enough, so people readily postured in support of an Ex-general who came under the umbrella of corruption intolerance, supposed integrity and a presumed capacity to tackle insecurity head-on.

Those of us who knew Buhari's antecedents and had no faith in GEJ simply opted not to vote. There was absolutely nothing like religious sentiments in the 2015 elections. Only Buhari pushed it in the North to curry support.

GEJ lost because he is a weakling and also tribalism from some certain part of the country.
USA is openly against him also.
He didn’t control the media and they portrayed him as satan.
He has presidential powers but too afraid to use it.
He is a good man.
The likes of Ibori or Amechi will not give out power easily like GEJ did.

Buhari defeated him with like 1.2 million votes or so and he can easily rigged some part of east to catch up with the no but instead make that phone call!!!

The was ethnic and religious sentiments.
The insecurity was caused because of ethnic and religious sentiments.

SW went with Buhari because of ethnic and religious sentiments

GEJ won SS so I dont know what you're talking about. I'm also from SS
