Many proverbs in relation to the topic

- You can't have it all

- You can't eat your cake and still have it.,

- There is always price to pay

- The grass seems greener on the other side. Etc

I'm the first to comment on this thread, show me some love by clapping for me.

Its not You cannot eat your cake and have it, it's you cannot have your cake and eat it too. That's the correct way of saying it. Check your dico , just wanted to enlighten you though, we learn everyday

Individuals like you japparing is mutually beneficial - in short, good for you and good for Nigeria. Would benefit Nigerians and Nigeria even more if you had the good grace not to chook your mouth in affairs of Nigeria once you're gone. If you could burn your passport and deny ever being a Nigerian, avoid Nigeria social media space etc.

If you're unable to do such a thing, harbouring such hatred, then you're effectively parasitic in nature.

Life in Nigeria is one million times better than the UK, the only slight advantage of the place is the 1000 to 1 exchange rate but generally a horrible depressing place to live. That is why the daily BA and Virgin Atlantic from Heathrow is full like molue because they all rush down to Lagos and Abuja to catch fun and depressurize before depression kill them.

There is more to food than satisfying the belly. A basic necessity if you are poor.

Food also has social fulfillment in Naija you cannot find anywhere.

Foreign olosho, be careful. Some young football players from the States were accused of rape in Canada over paying more when she found out they were highly paid. It can rarely happen in Nigeria.

All others factors listed are recommended by phycologists for long life. You cannot beat Nigeria after satisfying and learning your lessons abroad.

Not really Nigerian Food stinks. Aesthetically, It looks like shit and vomit. It also lacks diversity. It can give one a bad stomach.

Nigerian Women are nothing to write home about. They are entitled, materialistic, aggressive, rude and can be very confrontational. They are more attractive, classy, friendlier ladies abroad.

I would like a piece of what you’re smoking. Nigeria is terrible. Planes to Nigeria tend to be empty. But then planes leaving Nigeria tend to be jam packed.Nigeria is a third world shithole. A British Experiment Gone Wrong
I doubt you have ever flown from Lagos to Abuja or vice versa, planes to Nigeria empty? You must be a joker, no flight from the US on United or Delta or from Europe on BA, Air France, Lufthansa, Klm etc into Nigeria are less than 95% capacity, this conversation is beyond your pay grade don't even bother replying me and further embarrass yourself with your absolute ignorance. All this airlines fly into Lagos and Abuja almost daily, but according to you they are all flying thousands of miles daily empty into Nigeria.

That is just a comparative between Heaven and Hell..
Heaven is always quiet, organized, everyone on their own..
But hell has a lots of vibes... Atmosphere is always gingered with varieties..

Nigeria and vibes are like bread and butter..😂
But I still like heaven

In my experience of flying to Nigeria, Flights leaving the country are so jam packed. Flights going to Nigeria MMA is always so busy cause people are in a rush to leave that shithole. I have definitely been on a flight to Nigeria with less than 95% capacity.

I was informed by someone close, who was present on one such occasion, that Obasanjo, during keynote speeches to Nigeria youths helping out in various Africa nations, used to encourage Nigerian youths to leave Nigeria and not return. This shocked and annoyed me. I had no reason to disbelieve the individual that told me this and he had no reason to lie.

Anyway, looking back, i see now that the old man Obasanjo was wise and not the traitor i took him for due to my youth and the youths associated naivities. Obasanjo understood that Nigeria would be a better place and less burdened when certain types of Nigeria youths leave Nigeria, especially never to return.

Japa is cowardice

you said exactly my thoughts about it.

the cowardice will then turn to not even being willing to start from where you left.

I respect the fact that you are also in the North.

May God continually bless your hustle.

Most of what you’ve stated is BS. What is there to miss about that country? the power cuts/epileptic power supply? Dilapidated infrastructure? Bad Roads? Greedy, Corrupt Ass Leaders that siphon the wealth of the country? High crime? High kidnapping rate? Extreme Corruption at every level of the society? Poor Healthcare? Insurgents? Broken economy? Tribalism?
No regard for Human Rights? High Illiteracy? Great Poverty? High Wealth Inequality?

I agree with almost all of them. In my own case however,

(1) Food - An area 20 minutes drive from me is littered with Nigerian/African restaurant and they serve varieties of good delicacies but the real touch of the Naija flavour is missing, also you can hardly get real goat meat. (Ogufe) and you also can't compare the offals to the ones in Nigeria.

(2) Social life: - You may suffer if you are a JJC but overtime you will find your "people" and learn to work around other commitments.

(3) Women: - Given the fact that I didn't have that much experience with Naija girls in Nigeria, I'm curious to explore when I visit but erm... plenty girls here of various race that will happily date/bed you if you know the game.

(4) Work-life balance: - Don't be quick to conclude on this because of the situation of a 48 year old man. This largely depends on job or industry. Majority of office based jobs now are hybrid; 2 days in the office, 3 days at home kind of settings and weekend is all yours of course. Again it depends on job and industry.

(5) Friendliness: - This is true to some extent but I understand what you mean. I prefer it that way though, acquaintances are acquaintances, work colleagues are work colleagues and of course relationship in this settings can grow into something more personal if you share same values, hobbies, etc.

(6) Church: - Erm...Cancelled. I'll rather be looking after myself after a few drinks the night before, or just relax generally. The guys that introduced christianity to Nigeria don't go to church, why should I?

(7) Friends/Naija vibes: - With this, people tend to send invite for gatherings well in advance but when we turn up, we do exactly that. Impromptu get-together are however occasional.

(cool Weather: - Erm true, UK weather especially in some unforgiven winter months can make you feel like you're in a giant and invisible industrial freezer but I've also basked in 40 degree celsius in Nigeria, making what would have otherwise been an enjoyable short holiday somewhat unbearable to the extent that I was actually counting down the days to my return. Now I know to choose the month I visit carefully.

(9) Family Support: - Very true this.

(10) Christmas and other festivities - This is also very true. I really nearly cried on my first Christmas here but eventually got used to the ambience and atmosphere of British Christmas which is actually not that bad, especially if you have families here but Naija Christmas still wins hands down.

(6) Church:
Sunday mornings are lovely in Nigeria. People wear elegant dresses and head to church. The praise and worship session lightens your mood. It is always a moment of expression of joy. But in the UK, the roads are mostly deserted on Sunday mornings. This is because most people are nursing hangovers from the escapades on Saturday. In fact, you will doubt if the Britons actually introduced Christianity to Nigeria via Henry Townsend in 1842.

The British didn't give you their technological inventions and secrets. They gave you Chrisitianity and the Bible. They knew that if they can make some Africans Christians, it will destroy the African way of life and ruin Africans completely. That is why today, many Africans are willing to JAPA to Britain to go and work as slaves. Same applies to Arabs and Islam. If your oppressor gives you a gift, you should have enough sense to reject it. The Japanese were smart. The Chinese were smart. The Indians were smart. But you see Africans, we accept the gift from the oppressors and here we are.

There is no gain without pain in life. We must sacrifice something for whatever gain we make. Remember the concerted efforts made by the late pop legend, Michael Jackson, just to be able to shop in a mall in disguise. Inasmuch as relocating to the UK is a life-defining move and experience, it entails leaving behind some vital aspects of your life for better economic opportunities and a higher standard of living. These aspects will always be missed. Let's recount the interesting aspects of the Nigerian life below:

(1) Food:

You can easily get Nigerian delicacies in some cities in the UK, but that local flavour is always missing. I feel it needs the hands of the rugged women within the crude environment to get it right. For example, which Amala in the world can replace the famous Amala Skye in Ibadan?

(2) Social life:

The social life in the UK is either poor or strange to Africans. People in London are stepping it up with events but other cities are still lagging behind. Even when you organise social gatherings and send out invites, most people ignore them and pick shifts instead. This is unlike Lagos where people easily 'turn up'. Remember what singer Banky W said about social life in Lagos, "Ain't no party like the Lagos party"

(3) Women:
Nigerian women are easily accessible as long as you have the money. You can easily see what Lagos socialite and other celebrities are doing with the dream women of people. Even when you are broke and you are organised as a man, you might still have your way. In contrast, the relationship market is different in the UK. It is a very conservative setting that abhors strangers. Ephemeral factors like skin colour, accent, ethnic background and visa status play key roles in who dates you.

(4) Work-life balance:

If you believe the hustle in Lagos is real, then you haven't seen the one in the UK. With the cost of living rising, I have seen people working 24 hours to make extra bucks. I once met a 48-year-old man who confided in me that he had been working 24 hours for 3 straight days. Most immigrants who set unrealistic targets for themselves end up living to work.

(5) Friendliness:

Nigerians are culturally friendly, especially if you are someone of high repute. Even when you are a nobody and you dress well, people easily get attracted to you. These people try to socialise with you. The UK will unconsciously teach you the differences of the terms; colleagues, friends and acquaintances. Most people only relate with themselves either on a professional or strictly needs basis.

(7) Friends/Naija vibes:
It is easier to get people together in Nigeria than in the UK. In Nigeria, most people do 9-5 jobs and the weekends are sacred. Over here in the UK, every day seems the same. When you are free, your friend or neighbour is fully engaged. When you are on a day shift, he might be on a night shift. With Nigerians back home 'billing' the ones in the diaspora more than Ikeja Electric, people work throughout the week to send something home.

(cool Weather:
Nigeria has one of the best atmospheric conditions in the world. The weather is moderate and with technological devices, you can create your own comfort. In the UK, the weather is so cold and unpredictable. Most times, your sense of fashion goes out of the window. You just want to avoid being sickened by the cold, by wearing big jackets. These jackets make you look like Ninja Turtles. The weather remains more unstable than the mood of a woman seeing her period.

(9) Family Support:
When you start having kids in the UK, you will value family support. It is mostly unavailable. Even when your family is here, most of them will be engaged because time is too valuable. In Nigeria, your parents, grandparents, aunties, uncles and other family members will always be available to support you. All you have to do is to grease their palms, no matter how faint the oil is. At all at all na imm bad pass.

(10) Christmas and other festivities:
The Christmas Day vibe in Nigeria is second to none. People cook the best meals and share them in the neighbourhood. Visitors show up at your place for memorable times. In the UK, it is a bank holiday and some workplaces that can't afford to close, lure people to work with double pay. A greedy Nigerian will take the money and postpone the celebration for the following year. At the end of the year, all your memories might hover around depressing moments at work if care isn't taken.

Eriokanmi:
Most of them aren't true.

food
There's a woman whom a friend used to take me to eat at her place, around Greenwich library in the UK, where we would go and eat amala. We'd come all the way from thamesmead to eat there. I've also eaten poundo yam there with Malta Guinness to take it down. Likewise in Chicago, at Aurora area. There's a woman who sells gari, isu, elubo, ogbono, worowo and other soup ingredients. A friend had taken me there before to buy gari and soup ingredients. You'd never miss home if you know your way. At a place called nazareth, near texas prison, a friend had taken me to one igbo woman where we went to eat eba with ofe nsala.

Christmas
No country in Europe celebrates Christmas more than the UK. They'd decorate their streets with beautiful lights and all, more than what we see in Nigeria. Christmas is much more celebrated over there than here in Nigeria.

Church
You can still worship on a Sunday in any church of choice if you like. Only naija go japa finish and forget all these...and be working on Sundays cos of money. They hardly socialise...it's money,.money and money yet, they still don't get that money. You'd see an oyinbo who drives refuse truck and still be visiting Disneyland with his family in US. Our people can work all year round , ki lo deeeh shocked

Fiendlines/friendship/social life
If you're the type who loves keeping friends, you can still be ok. But money they chase all about doesn't allow many to socialise. My friend in brooklyn had missed his bus stop many times cos he always slept off once he entered the train. Na work, work and work. How can he have time to socialise in all these or go to church? Na paki dey go mosque pass for UK. You hardly see our people to visit mosque and pray on a Friday. I was my neighbours Best friend back in the days in Buffalo, up state NY. It all depends on yourself. Our people hardly see thehr neighbours. Isę ni kura grin

Family support
This even increases as people know your level don change. Demands would keep I.ceeasing

You said it is a lie, but you are only corroborating what he wrote about a Nigerian life in UK, except maybe for the food matter.
