••• Gives out 3 Million Naira to Beneficiaries

The member representing Ikot Ekpene/Essien Udim/Obot Akara Federal Constituency, Hon. Dr. Patrick Umoh, KSJI, in a remarkable display of unwavering commitment to education made an impactful stride on Friday, September 22, 2023. On this momentous occasion to mark his 100th day in office, Hon. Umoh embarked on a mission to empower and uplift the youth of his Constituency.

A total of 150 undergraduate students from his Constituency became the recipients of this noble endeavour, as they each received a bursary of 20,000 Naira. The cumulative disbursement amounted to a substantial 3 million Naira, a testament to the depth of Hon. Umoh's dedication to the academic success of his constituents.

During his address, Hon. Umoh's benevolence extended beyond financial support. He imparted invaluable wisdom to the students, stressing the paramount significance of diligence, commitment, and the unceasing pursuit of excellence in their educational journey. He cautioned against the perils of deviant behaviours, notably cultism, emphasising that true academic achievement is built on a foundation of responsibility and societal contribution.

In a touching and highly personal gesture, Hon. Umoh distributed free textbooks he had authored himself. This act was designed to encourage the students to immerse themselves in reading and expand their intellectual horizons, with a specific focus on topics related to law, climate change and the ever-evolving global landscape.

Envoy Nsentip Akpabio, the esteemed chairman of the Bursary/Grant Committee, expressed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the committee. Speaking through Mr. Emmanuel Umoh, the Dean of Students Affairs at the Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua, his appreciation resonated with the sentiment of the students, who were encouraged to utilise the provided financial support judiciously to address their educational needs.

He further remarked that Hon. Umoh has set a remarkable example of leadership and benevolence, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of the young scholars. "His dedication to the education and future of his constituents serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration, promising a brighter and more promising future for the youth of Ikot Ekpene/Essien Udim/Obot Akara Federal Constituency", he said.
