Keep talking rubbish. Politicians steal money daily that should be used to better the country's healthcare and you here making noise. Same politicians will run to Us and UK to treat headache. This is why the gap between the poor and rich is quite high. Blame your politicians who only know how to steal.

Pay well? Doctors are amongst the highest paid civil servant in Nigeria. When as a coper we were paid 3k monthly by the state, doctor were paid 80k.

Medical education in our universities are almost free as compared to the actual cost of the education.

Some private universities in Nigeria pay as high as 4m per year for medical education.

It’s normal to have dull ones. Their population is huge and they also have a large count of illiterates, and that still doesn’t still stop them from being the best.

The ones who know it, know it. In fact, any company into IT cannot succeed without that nationality.

You are daft!

How many Nigerians do I know that have passed USMLE?

🤣

1.
I personally know at least 10, who are working in the US.

...and they schooled in Nigeria.

2.
Passing USMLE does not mean you will match.
This is another process altogether.

3.
The Carribean Schools train their students as a conduit into the American system.

So it is not about someone being smarter than others.

I know Nigerians who went to take up assistant lecturer roles in Grenada, and they were all expected had to write USMLE.

4.

There was a year in OAU, when chemical pathology exam questions were lifted from USMLE exams...

Those boys still passed!

5.

Is passing USMLE the yardstick for medical competence?

So British, or German Drs are not competent because they did not write USMLE.

6.
Can you see that your brain is paining you?

Emotions over facts. Your daftness is deeper than Atlantic Ocean.
This post is about US Medical Examination for foreign-trained doctors… and their common standard is USMLE…your emotional brain cells always outwork your logical brain cells. You need a lot of work in that dept.

Your anecdotal experience, backed by emotions, cannot negate that USMLE pass rate for Naija-trained doctors is very low. Most Naija trained doctors are going to fail the exam at their 1st attempt.

Lifting chemistry pathology from OAU is another tales by moonlight story like Naija team beating India 100-0. Maybe it was one of your lazy lecturers who copied US medical exam questions.

Per British Medical Exams Plab. How many Naija fresh medical drs can pass it at one attempt? Not many.
Ghana, S/Africa, Grenada have higher pass rate than Naija.

Fact is, Naija medicine is good for Naija, but cannot compete with US and Carribean medical education systems… without relearning, retraining and accountability mindset.

An average US medical doctor carries about $300k in student loans on graduation. You come from another country with zero debts and don't expect there will be gatekeeping beyond certificates? Bad belle dey.

You need retraining too to shed the toga of incompetence and dearth of professionalism programmed in Nigerian brains. The transition from demigod to service delivery is a Herculean task for many Nigerian doctors. Malpractice lawsuits are waiting and someone has to pay premiums. " Let God judge" is not part of the curricula.

This is ignorance. The pass score for USMLE Step 1 isn’t difficult. Almost everyone I know passed the exam even when they were using the 60% score. You’ll need references from someone in the US to train as part of the criteria’s they need that’s why most Nigeria usually go for clinical attachment to make the connection.
I personally know over 10 Nigerian Dr that got matched for training last year alone. Almost everyone I know ‘passed’ USMLE Step 1 in one sitting.

Most of you dint read the article but jumped at the headline.
India paid the money for certification which ran into million of dollars to Canada. Entry into practice in Canada is very difficult and one need to pay almost

Your analysis is flawed.
You’ll see a thousand Nigerians before you’ll see one Grenada. Your data up there proves it unless you’ve a problem with Data interpretation. 85 grenadas to over a thousand Nigerians and you’re still saying Nigerians don’t know what they’re doing.
Go to any health facility all over the world and remove Indians and Pakistanis…you’re probably coming up with Nigeria as third. Both countries have higher population figure than nigeria and that explains it

Canada needs your school accredited with over $10,000 to be able to apply directly for training. India paid for almost all the schools in India starting from next year. Crap. They are not. The West generally overlook misdeeds by Indians and then help to creat a positive but false world view of Indians in the bid to counter China and the Chinese. Some misdeeds by Indians is forgery and misleading. For example, an Indian who works as a a self appointed herbalist in India might apply to UK as a Doctor. Since the UK don't scrutinize them as much as they would a Nigerian, they slip through the system and become GP in London.

You mean they know it by nepotism and favoritism.

They keep employing themselves even if they dont know the job...majority of Indians you see in tech in America isnt because they know but because of nepotism.

Indeed. They 're not in any of these positions by merit over nepotism and politics.

In this regard, African Americans should be ashamed that they're not using thire influence to place Nigerian doctors ahead of Indian doctors in the line of those applying to enter America. Instead, they're sulking at the little praise afforded Nigerians as though it is an affront on them rather than a benefit to them. They fail in seeing the larger picture. That crab mentality!

If Africa Americans don't want to use thire position in the system to favour Nigerians over Indians just as Whites and Indians use thire position to prioritise Indians, then they should not interfere if Nigerian Americans in the system attempt to favour Nigerians. Don't help the system label Nigerians as corrupt, criminals or some other characterisation if they try to work the system just as other races do and get away with doing

There is no reason debating about what the world knows. Talk about IT and Medicine, Indians have always been a force to reckon with!

The US H1B lottery is for a reason, and Indians are beneficiaries

Indians are not a force to reckon in IT or medicine, in medicine, they just make cheap versions of popular drugs, rebrand it and export them, infact their medical facilities arent top notch but cheap..cheap doesn't mean quality, cheap means affordable.

With regards to IT, they are also not there yet, they are just cheap and very incompetent.

The main reason why indians get US H1B is because indian firms are gaming the system, even the indian times wrote about it and also there was a call by Congressman Darrell Issa to close the loopholes.

H1B visa isnt merit based but lottery based, it is a non immigrant visa that is valid for 6 years and about 74.5% of applicants of H1B visas are indians(421,276) compared to Nigeria(924) (0.2%)

About 75 per cent of US H1B programme are going to Indian-owner

The system is setup by indians to benefit other indians, isnt that nepotism and favoritism at its finest, it has nothing to do with skills but more about gaining unfair advantage.

What they do is they gain unfair advantage in the H-1B lottery process by working together with unscrupulous companies and consultancies and then multiple registrations are submitted on behalf of the same beneficiary. In most cases, many applicants are given visas without jobs and then are allowed to immigrate to the US since they are sponsored by indian owned consultancy companies.

Once an indian found a tech company in the United states, they employ fellow indians, files for H1B Visas and bring lot of Indians for cheap, in most cases, they also help in applying for green card after the expiration of their visas
