To boost the distribution of the Federal and State Government palliatives to the people of Ekpri Nsukara Offot Village Council in Uyo Local Government Area, the village head, Eteidung Emem Denis Asikpo has added 20 bags of Rice to augment the 40 bags given by government to each community in Akwa Ibom State.

The chairman of the Ekpri Village Council, Comrade Morris Silas Bassey and the secretary of village council, Elder Domingo Bassey Etim, who announced this in a statement on Thursday, said the donation by the village head, Eteidung Asikpo has enhanced the quantity of rice shared to people in the thickly populated community.

The statement said the 20 bags were added to the 40 bags of rice received from the Federal and State Governments meant to cushion the harsh economic effect on the people following the removal of fuel subsidy.

"We have successfully shared the palliatives to the people in the five families of Ekpri Nsukara Offot and the distribution went so well without rancour.

"We therefore commend the Federal and State Governments for their kind gesture of donating 40 bags of rice to us to alleviate the plights of the poorest of the poor in the society, the statement added.

The Village Council also thanked the village head, Eteidung Emem Denis Asikpo, for donating additional 20 bags of rice at the cost of about N1million to further boost the quantity shared among the people.

The council appreciated the family heads, stakeholders and the generality of the people for being very orderly and cooperative during the sharing of the palliatives.

The village council noted that since the emergence of Eteidung Asikpo as the village head, the community has experienced peace, unity and progress and assured him of their continued support in his leadership and service to the people including residents.

The community further said they are overwhelmed with joy over the love of Governor Umo Bassey Eno to ameliorate the plight of the people and urged the people to support the administration so as to do more.

According to them, the A.R.I.S.E. Agenda of Pastor Eno was indicative of the development package that Akwa Ibom under his administration will experience and prayed God to grant the governor more wisdom in his leadership.

Is that all?
20 bags of rice for a community?
Propaganda greater than palliative.
