*SOLUDO MARKS INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSARY, NAMES AIRPORT AFTER ACHEBE*

Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Sunday, October 1, 2023, led Ndi Anambra from all works of life to celebrate Nigeria’s 63rd Independence Day anniversary parade held at the Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka.

The day’s celebration kick-started with the national anthem, some minutes after Governor Soludo had arrived at the Square, and inspected the guards on parade, before mounting the stand to observe the parade processions and deliver the anniversary speech.

A major highlight of the ceremony was the renaming of the Anambra International Cargo and Passenger Airport, Umueri, after Chinua Achebe International Airport, Umueri, in honour of Anambra’s greatest literary gift to the world.

Other highlights included parades and a march past by the Nigerian Police Force -NPF, OCHA Brigade Anambra, public schools, and an Aesthetic display by the State Ministry of Entertainment, Culture, and Tourism.
