Emefiele era was in part. Pre-Buhari and Buhari. Naira was stable before Buhari or worst depreciating at slow rate. Buhari managed to stabilise it in 8 years but Tinubu has crashed Naira in few months.

This was the biggest mistake Emefiele made. Of course there was a section of the APC who kept flirting with GEJ as an alternative to Tinubu but they couldn't advance their scheme because of the mutual secret within APC.

So, the Naira Policy knocked all Emefiele's average management of the naira exchange regime into the gutters when he tried to implement the new note policy. People died because of lack of cash. Nigerians bought money because of this policy, and at the end of the day we still ended up with the most blatant rigging episode since the return of the 4th republic.

Personally, if I was in his shoes, I would have left Nigeria proceeding on terminal leave ahead of schedule in April 2023. Because his arrest was only a matter of time.

I agree with you. To me the policy was a good idea perhaps the timing was wrong but if we had allowed the policy to work it would have helped shrink corruption because it would have encouraged transparency and audit trail for funds in the system.
