I think they are only trying to buy time for this ApC illegitimate Ogun gov.

With this ruling here, Adebutu will win in the Appeal court of justice. [/quote]

Fatal error from his lawyers. Very close results at that!
I like the judgement anyway. You want to be declared as winner or looking for rerun, yet you referred to your own votes as "purported" result. Very dumb

This is laughable, and a clear case of "anything you say or do here will and shall be used against you in the court of law".

XtraFortunes:
The continued reliance on technicalities by the judiciary instead of the merit of a case has made the judiciary in Nigeria a laughing stock.

The NJC and NBA need to do something about it as it has plunged Nigeria into its status today as a failed state.

Look at Imo state after the abracadabra judgement there and a host of others.

I weep for Nigeria cry

Should the Lawyers not have engaged in mock trials in their chambers and properly checked all their processes?

English, destroy this one life.

purport ▸// appear to be or do something, especially falsely: verb [with infinitive] pəˈpɔːt she is not the person she purports to be.

purported /pəˈpɔːtɪd / ▸ adjective appearing or stated to be true, though not necessarily so; alleged: the purported marriage was void.

INEC should have hired tribunals as its lawyers…cos they do a darn better job than INEC lawyers lol

The elections tribunal judgment this year is the worse I have seen in naija history

Don't blame the tribunal for the poor outing the petitioners have put out across the country.

Many counsels of most petitioners acted like toddlers handling election matters. It's a sad outing for the counsels committing fundamental errors!

Wetin tribunal judges wan do? Judgement are based solely on facts presented before them, how the facts are argued by petitioners and most importantly, how these facts are filed!

He should have approached the court with his own facts instead of relying in rumors and assumptions like pandora pathological liar Obi.
You need to show that you actually won the election with paper results that different from what INEC declared. These sore losers expect the court to declare them as winners based on feelings and assumptions.
Rubbish.

All these are technicalities

Why can't the tribunal judge the case on it merit
God bless you, the legal team sold him out, Dapo shouldn't be declared a winner if the INEC follow their rules, and besides both of them are not worthy to rule a community not to talk of a state but wetin we go do now, we got no choice.

Can't you see that the tribunal is not willing to do justice but looking for excuses?

Nigerian judiciary is compromised

The solid ground upon which Mr Adebutu built his petition, according to the court, will no longer matter because the legal team referred to the figures as “purported.”

Haha..

He shot himself in the leg..

At the end of the day, lawyers have cashed out!

grin grin grin Very funny judgement. Time and money wasted for nothing.

The lesson here is that we should always mind the kind of language or word we use under certain circumstance.

I am tempted to believe the tribunal is right on this matter even though the judgement sounds crazy and funny. I mean, by using the word 'purported' it simply means the petitioner based his petition on rumours and hearsay instead of relying on the authentic result released by INEC!

They should have gone into the merit of the case just in case the superior courts disagree with this decision. The Kaduna governorship election petition tribunal dismissed the case on similar ground of incompetence but still went ahead to rule on the merit of the case just in case the superior courts disagrees.

The merit of the case is not their concern, it is the English used that is their concern. What is the problem in this country, that judges and lawyers fixed in technicality and leave the substance? They give judgement and left justice. What a shame.

Haba.

In a legal context, the term "purported" is often used to indicate that something is alleged or claimed to be true, but its veracity or authenticity is in question. It suggests that the validity of the statement or document is being challenged or disputed.

This is complete bullcrap sha. The word "purported" when used in legal processes merely means you are challenging the veracity or correctness of a statement, document or fact. The Tribunal Judges know that. This is the laziest election judgment I have ever seen.
