Now to your present question. Israel will not accept the original borders of 1948 in a two state solution now because the conditions under which they accepted it before has changed. We are talking of over fifty years and a lot has happened with countless wars in between.
As long as the right of Israel to exist is not recognized especially by this terror group Hamas and others, Israel will continue to occupy them. Again, the way some commentators talk as though the Jewish people/Israel is totally alien to that land is mind-boggling and deceptive. Palestinians and the Jewish people lived on that land through several conquests - from Babylon, Egypt to Persia to the Roman's, the Ottoman empire etc. While it is through that the Palestinians own majority of the land, it is far from being true that the Jews just migrated from Europe to a place that is entirely new to them.

I support the call for an independent state for the Palestinians but he right for Israel to exist must be respected as well and they have a genuine reason to worry over the growing rhetoric that Israel must die for Palestine to live especially among those terrorists groups hiding under the quest for a sovereign state.
