Why won't Dangote's profit be more than 50% when he is selling @ double the price.

Is it not even criminal to earn such profits??

Well you can buy BUA.

He's cut his prices.

No... But I wouldn't be too greedy with my profit margin... As I am already a billionaire 😒

Some of their foreign counterparts have more than 10 times their production capacity, yet make far less profit. This is an indicator that Cement is overpriced in this part of the world. Dangote, BUA and Lafarge Africa are clearly ripping us off.

We are in trouble in this country, and we don't have a responsible government to check these criminals.

Can you give examples of those foreign companies?

Plus Nigeria is messed up. Companies have to charge higher because of our higher costs of production here. No power, no good supporting infrastructure, corruption.

Obi would have done nada.

Start forcing cement companies to operate at a loss, they would move overseas.

Obi is an economist. He knows that setting the price for cement is a nice way to make them go broke.

The best Obi would have done would have been to improve power supply and railways for starters to reduce production and transport costs. Then given them tax breaks. Maybe prices might come down

You would, comrade.

You have to pay staff raised salaries , pay for raised tax and then upgrade your cement equipment to stay competitive, pay for research and development, and pay running costs which rose and rise

Profits don't end up in the owner's pockets. They go for a host of stuff.

But you Nairalanders are Marxist in orientation, with a simplistic black and white view of rich men oppressing the poor.

This calls for immediate diligent investigation for likelihood of national economic sabotage and unfair trade practices against Nigerians by these three companies.

This is utterly shameful and heads must roll in any agency found culpable. For years, there has been strident calls for investigation of these companies cement companies and these calls have been ignored but this report is by far the most compelling to investigate cement pricing in Nigeria. Haba!

Only Lafarge come close to having a significant amount of its shares owned by Nigerians while the 2 cement companies owned by Nigerians are literally one-man business like a 2-man cartel using cement price to hold down the progress of this nation.
More than 90% of the outstanding shares of Dangote cement is owned by Alhaji Aliko Dangote, GCON while about 95% of the outstanding shares of BUA cement is owned by Alhaji Rabiu. So the unparalleled world record profit held by these two companies end in the pocket of these two individuals shocked
THEY JUST HIKE THEIR PRICES ANYHOW AND OUR GOVERNMENT DON'T CARE.
NO GOVERNMENT REGULATIONS.
GOVERNMENT ALLOW THEM TO DO AS THEY LIKE BECAUSE GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS ARE IN THEIR POCKETS.
COMPANIES WITH LOWER PRODUCTION CAPACITIES MAKING MUCH MORE PROFITS THAN OTHER COMPANIES WITH FAR HIGHER PRODUCTION OUTPUTS, SMACKS OF FRAUD AND UNDERHAND PRACTICES.

₦3,500 per bags that Bua promised to start from the effect of October 2nd, is still some jokes and dream as store still sell at ₦5,800 per bag grin grin grin grin grin grin grin Nigerian sha! WE don't even know who is playing the Ojoro anymore grin grin
There wasn't really any ojoro, people just love rave of the moment.
The #3500 wasn't for the open market, it's a factory price, transportation, other cost and profit margin is excluded.
The best you can get in reduction is about 200/300 difference in the open market

We have been saying this but your people keep calling it "Igbos hate the North". They schemed out Ibeto to form the oligopoly because these northerners don't like competition. We have been warning about the so called Dangote refinery, but you keep making noise about it's location in Lagos. All these government protected sectors will only favor certain cabals and not the masses. Tinubu should liberalise these things for competition
