It is true that technology has influenced Nigeria in many ways, including the workforce.

Now, what is the workforce? According to Oxford Dictionary, the workforce can be defined as the people engaged in or available for work, either in a country, area, or particular firm or industry. As of 2022, the total workforce of Nigeria was 73,272,344 according to the work bank collection of development indicators complied from officially recognized sources.

Technology has gone so far that it has invaded us in banking systems, education, aviation, transportation, commerce, even in our security aspect, etc. Here are some ways in which technology has influenced our workforce.

1. Technology has created more job opportunities and taken some people jobs in Nigeria today: Technology has created more jobs for us Nigerians in fields like software development, data analysis, digital marketing, and many more, but it has also taken some people jobs like bank teller operators, cashiers, receptionists, travel agents, etc. So, in order to not fall victim to unemployment due to the development of technology, it is advised that you learn computer skills.
2. Remote work: with the way technology has improved over time, not all jobs require you to leave your house; some people are allowed to work from home or anywhere with their internet connection. Working from home is less stressful, and working from home is comfortable and relaxing.
3. Entrepreneurship: With the aid of technology, people can start their own businesses, like digital marketing tools, online payment systems, and many more, all thanks to e-commerce platforms.
4. Time saver: like they say, time is money, and this can be explained in a way that some businesses that were stressful and time-consuming are now made easier and faster, all due to the improvement of technology, and this would help those businesses get more revenue because they would be working with double the speed and double the production power.
5. Communication: with the help of technology, a company's workers find it easy to communicate with each other through messaging apps, video and teleconferencing, etc.
6. Digital skills: technology has created a demand for digital skills such as coding, graphic design, and social media management. This has opened up new career paths and opportunities for individuals to upskill and adapt to the changing job market.

Those are some of the ways in which technology has influenced the workforce of Nigeria. As you can see for yourself, it has done more good than harm to the country's workforce. All you need to do is know a digital skill and be well updated.
