Higher taxes again? Since IMF people don't know what average Nigerian is going through now they can spew all kinds of garbage but the poor are not breathing well now. Any further suffocation may let all hell loose.

Where in Asia has it worked?

You need to understand that their is a global politics to keep some region rich and some poor.
Unfortunately, Africa has been programmed to remain poor for cheap access to raw materials and labor.

To break out of this plan, African needs to look inward just like the Chinnes and Indian to solve her problem.

No foreigner or god would save Africa. You have to save yourself.

JuanDeDios:

They're not "cruel". These policies have actually worked in Asian countries. Africa is a different matter because of low productivity.

It's obvious the major sinister motive of all these western agencies is to impoverish, dehumaize and render Africans redundant, hopeless and helpless.

America's World Bank advised our govt to remove subsidy and like a magic, the economy would bounce back, knowing fully well that lack of funds was never due to subsidy payment, but just to make life harder for us.

Now the twin sister of World Bank is telling the FG again to increase taxation as if the consequence of subsidy removal was not enough, now encouraging the govt again to implement another hardship advice.

No international agency has the genuine progress of Africa at heart. All is smokescreen with stupid analysis to bamboozle us.

We are already drowning in taxes. If you know how many times banks charges us per day. Let alone regular taxes.

Cut cost of governance and plug leakages of allocations. Plug wastage in Civil service. Invest in capital projects.

IMF only meddle in poor countries affair. I don't hear IMF dictating to western nations. This is what happens when you squander your resources and beg for handouts.

It's the case of a rich neighbour dictating to you how to raise your kids and make love to your wife because you keep going to beg him for handouts. If you manage your garri in peace and keep your shoulders high, the rich neighbour wouldn't dare meddle in your affairs.

APC is running IMF-driven economy, the same advised gov't to remove subsidy then it swang into action without the slightest recourse for its adverse impacts on the vulnerable and low income earners. Why can't Nigerian government form a think-tank that will come up with home-grown solutions to our economic problems?Nigerian government is perpetually being puppetted by IMF because of loans.

High taxation is NOT a bad policy - I'm not sure why people think it is. The European countries our people run to have high taxes. The problem is that the vast majority of our people are poor and you can't tax the poor. So we have to find another route to economic growth and development so that our people can be empowered. Oil is our natural route but that has failed, partly due to massive corruption.

That means we must increase productivity by removing the bottlenecks that hamper industry. Yes, we must look inwards. But if someone is trying to keep us poor, this advice doesn't necessarily amount to that.

They were the ones that advised him to devalue the naira. . Now they are asking him to increase taxes. .

But do you blame them? Your leaders keep going to them for loans that they actually do.not need or will misappropriate. .

IMF does not care about citizens of any country, they need to recover their money. .
