IDG-2023, NYCN Celebrates, Partners Senatorch And Lofflands Properties To Campaign For Girls Rights In Secondary Schools In Anambra. By Ndife David - Awka. As millions of girls and women all over the world celebrates the 2023 edition International Girls Child Day, the Anambra National Youth Council Of Of Nigeria, Ladies Forum were not left behind as they partnered with the management of Senatorch Ltd to take the message of hope to girls at various school levels in Anambra. Recall that the association had long before now engaged in such philanthropic campaign in the pass few years and had also carried out several outreaches and Intervention crusades across secondary schools in the twenty one local government area of Anambra State and this year decided to the campaign to three secondary schools which includes Dominican Sisters College Abatete, Queens Covenant Awka and Community Secondary Okpuno. Addressing the students, the Vice President, Apex Survey Services and also the wife of the Anambra NYCN Chairman, Mrs. Obichukwuemeka Blessing encouraged encouraged the girls to study hard for a successful and bright future. "You are the future of our nation, and your potential is boundless. Each lesson you learn, each book you read, and every question you ask is a step toward a brighter and more promising future, she said "I want you to believe in yourselves, set ambitious goals, and never stop working toward them. No dream is too big, and no challenge is too difficult when you put your heart and mind into it. Your teachers and parents are here to support you, and I am here today to remind you that your entire community believes in your potential, she added" Mrs. Obichukwuemeka noted that by empowering the girls, we are not only investing in their futures but also in the future of our nation and urge the girls to sit up and face the world with all bravery in order to succeed and standout in any sector. Also speaking, the Vice Chairman, Senatorch Ltd, Mrs Grace Kosisochukwu Amaeze, the NYCN Directorate for Gender and Girl Child Empowerment, Mrs Nwankwo Chidiogor Florence and the NYCN Treasurer, Ms. Chinasa Alakwe while highlighting the many challenges the girl child called for collective effort to address the issues noting that equal opportunity and an enabling environment should be provided for the girls to learn, grow and succeed without threats, abuse and intimidation. They maintained that there is a serious need for equal opportunities and a collective response to fight any negative treatment infringing the rights and privileges for their progress in life and urged parents and school teachers to train the girls and empower them with adequate information, materials and skills to enable them excel in any chosen career, noting that it will help promote gender equity and reduce gender violence which will produce responsible women and mothers in the future. While thanking the school's management for their tireless efforts to make our state a better place to learn and grow, they equally reiterated their commitment towards continous advocacy for policies and programs that advances the rights and lives of girls and urge parents, teachers, community leaders and stakeholders to join the campaign for the protection and provision for girls in the society. In their separate remarks, State Coordinator Trefoil Guild, Dr. Mrs Ngozi Okpala and her counterpart who doubles also as the Secretay Trefoil Guild, Mrs Nweke Adiline, commended the NYCN group for their love and compassion for the girls. They noted that the importance of supporting and empowering the girls is a life time investment that contributes not only in elevating their status but also serves as a significant platform to transform the entire lives of the society at large. They noted that the girl child is like a gift to humanity as they bring forth many good tidings in the environment through their contributory role in building the world especially through reproduction and urge the students to take advantage of the lesson to better their life's. Appreciating, the Principal Dominican Sisters College, Rev. Sr Wusaaru Oti OP commended the Anambra NYCN for their love and zeal towards engaging students all over the State. She affirmed that the Initiative of caring and empowering the girls in the society to be more productive and responsible rather than being considered a threat or liability will go a long in building great and powerful women of worth in our society. Sis. Wusaari while also praying for the group urged school teachers, parents and wards to invest more on educating their girl child as it positively impacts the socio-economic and cultural standard of the society and helps eradicate poverty and improve good health standard amongst girls and women in the society. Other notable persons who were part of the outreach includes, the State Adviser Anambra Guides Mrs Uche Orakwute, Deputy Chairman NYCN Anambra, Comrade IKC Onuorah amongst others. 1 Share
