This is not feasible except they want a tsunami of inflation. How do they intend to generate revenue for such payment? The lawmaker is obviously a product of bad educational system.

Nobody will pay teachers that amount in salaries. When you consider the number of teachers we have in Nigeria, you understand how much this country will be spending in paying salaries alone. Tomorrow, you expect the government not to borrow money.

It's obvious the person who sponsored the bill didn't do a thorough job. The biggest lie we have been told is that Nigeria is a rich country. Nigeria is not rich.
they can't even pay the peanuts teachers are collecting now not to talk of then

It's a good proposal if it can scale through. Even if it does, these greedy politicians will never implement it particularly at state level

I thought about this devaluation Wahala yesterday after seeing someone carry sack of money in those sacks use to carry clothes .. I am like I hope this not where we are headed , then on a second thought I was smiling sheepishly that those who stole our money and do nothing with it would soon realize they stole tissue papers, but at what expense ..if we need to redominate the current, let's do it, because the cost of printing as well as the logistics of moving currency are no small cost ...If we want to encourage an export driven economy, we can do it in our own way , not what Oyinbo people teach us in their Ivy league schools...

It will not change anything.

Traders will increase prices of goods accordingly. Purchasing power of the Naira will drop and inflation will rise.

Is it not this our Nigeria? undecided

Supported.

Teachers should be one of the highest paid workers in Nigeria.

And qualification as a Teacher should be one of the highest things to achieve in Nigeria as well.

It should be as rigorous as passing a Law Degree or Medicine.

That way, you will get quality Teachers who will dedicate their life and time to truly impact the young ones to help them develop.

Also, every form of non conventional form of education should be abolished at the basic level. All these Koranic Schools Or Islammiyya schools should be abolished and only meant for people who have finished secular Primary and Secondary Schools.

Same with any similar Christian school system.

That way, what children will first learn won’t be how to recite religious book and some religious indoctrination but the right mental development suitable for their overall development.

These are things the Lawmakers should look into as well.
Nice idea

When u try to educate people with what u wrote they will say this and that as even countries bigger than Nigeria too don't borrow fund..

That's why I said sometimes we do expect more than what we have from the government.
It's well bro

He has no idea about management..

The only way is for government to increase sch fees, nothing else..

Any other thing will lead to a disaster..

In those countries were the pay teachers very well, they pay very high tax or high fees.. There is no other solution…

If they pay them that money then the economy will crash..

Why 250k for primary school teachers? It takes specialized skills to teach kids below 10, primary school teachers should earn more than all these copy and paste university lectures. Foundation matters most.

Price of goods and stuff will increase

Let me make it clear to you.

How about they pay teachers that amount, and a liter of Petro is sold for one thousand naira (1k)?

Good recommendation, but secondary School teachers to earn x2 of primary school teachers is out of place.
Probably, the man didn't know that primary School Teachers work more than secondary School teachers, some with higher degrees too.
In fact, for me, primary School Teachers should earn more than secondary School teachers because of work loads and the responsibility of grooming and making the Child.
