The practice is a joint venture between Outrech hospital lead by Dr Efunbo Dosekun and Echo cross Diagnostics lead by Dr Zanaibu Mudasiru. The referring O+G doctor just carried out an elective Caesarian Section in our theatre and our team resuscitated/stabilized an extreme preterm/IUGR 29wk baby.BW-720gms.

Babies matters welcomes triplets from an In vitro fertilization (IVF) pregnancy.
It’s a busy time at Babies Matters medical centre a subsidiary of Outreach Signature Hospital when a set
of triplets were delivered in the early hours of the 22nd of November 2023, by the Head Obstetrician at
Signature Hospital Dr. Amarachukwu Njoku, after a spontaneous rupture of the membranes. And due to
a subsequent emergency, the babies were born through Emergency Caesarian Section.
The mother was transferred from a private hospital on the Island to our premises at 6 Muritala Eletu
street, Osapa London, Lekki, as it has been proven that extremely premature babies born at the centre
where they will be managed, have a better outcome and prognosis. Indeed the intensive care for the
babies started from zero minute, as the first hour of care known as the ‘Golden Hour After Birth’ is
paramount to optimizing the care and significantly improving outcomes.
Babies Matters Medical Centre is focused on the care of neonates in the first 28 days of life especially
premature neonates. Two weeks before the arrival of the triplets to our facility, we also had a baby
delivered in our hospital at 29 weeks gestation and with growth restriction in the womb, birth weight
was 760grams. The baby was given surfactant (the inner coating of the airways that is deficient in
premature babies and plays a major role in gas exchange in the lungs) at 12 minutes of age, which is a
standard in the management of premature babies care in developed countries around the world.
The Medical Director of Outreach Hospital Dr Efunbo Dosekun, and the Clinical lead of Babies Matter
Medical Centre Dr. Zainabu Mudasiru, assure mothers of the capacity to handle different levels of
