Traders sha....they should tell us how exactly they transport and buy the product when its around 5000+.
Though the point appear valid, I believe an increase in price would have taken an immediate impact

The problem is with the major distributors not the retailers, they distributors add a high profit margin after they must have gotten it at a discounted price from BUA.

Have you considered the cost of transporting the goods from the factory to their location? BUA cement factory is in Edo state. It will take tens of thousands of naira to transport the cements from Benin to Lagos through bad roads and they also need to make their profit. BUA should have explained to us that the price slash was for distributors not final consumers

Retailers are liars. Not telling the whole truth. People in Benin have vowed not to sell at 3,500.

You can't beat basic economics. In all of this, Alhaji Dangote is smiling to the bank as his product dominates the market.

This is where a serious business man will come in.
Invest millions in haulage.
Partner with BUA if possible.
Before anyone realize what's happening, you've made your money.
You're the middle man.
Buy from BUA, transport to distributors...
Even if it's 500 u can get from each bag... And you're able to transport 10k bags per month, all expenses deducted.... 5m...
But of cos... It's easier said than done.... Who would want to invest hundreds of millions of naira only to be making 5m per month.....

One useless thing about this country is that the masses themselves are too greedy

Why don't they tell us how exactly they transport and buy the product when its was around 5500 naira

Guess what the price of bua cement here in Edo state is still 5500 naira

We all know cost of transportation is insignificant here since their factory is right here

Now ask the retailers they will tell you old stock in the shop is the problem that they have to sell it off first

This are same Nigerians even when they have old stock in the market and the price of that goods goes up they won't sell at the old price they will sell at the new price

Why don't they sell their old stock at the new price now

sell old stock at new price... oshey

They want to sell at old price and use the margin to expand their business by increasing quantity...Greed of man

How much was diesel weeks back and how much is it now
Diesel keeps adding money on monthly bases. We bought diesel at d rate of 1050 at NNPC outlet on Wednesday, then on Thursday we saw 1300 per liter
Fed govt has a lot of work to do. Immediately Bua reduced d price, I expected FG to backup Bus with means of transportation by subsidizing cost of diesel or setup stations in every state where it will be much easier for retailers to convey it to their various destination.
Price reduction, FG has a whole lot of work to do

Bua has been indirectly advertising his product since few months now in the name of price reduction.

If the fg gives license to many investors to import, produce cement all this scarcity will disappear.Monopoly is the cause of this problem.
Re: Retailers: Why We Can't Sell BUA Cement At N3,500 by arasayar(m): 5:43pm On Oct 28, 2023
Let's analyse this, Bua cement cost N5,500 naira in Lagos before the coy decided to reduce the price, understandably retailer need to factor in logistics into their selling price, but my confusion is that they is a price reduction in their cost price yet retailers are claiming several factors (all of which are not new) why the retail price must remain same. I am not convinced they are totally been fair, I would have expected price reduction but maybe not down to 3,500 but explaining it away if not possible.

I wouldn't know how and when BUA explained that but I don't think he ever made that explanation. Despite the high cost of trucking, the price retailers and consumers get cement is high compared to what the distributors get it for. I can tell you that for free

All this is the result of misplaced priorities,; we were building rail to transport people, why didn't we build rails from BUA and Dangote factories to the 6 geopolitical zones and device a means to collect toll fees to reclaim cost in 5-10 yrs?

The big question is; How have they been transporting it before now when the ex-depot price was higher.
It doesn't make sense to still be selling at the old retail price when there is reduction now from the company.
