^on the contrary my friend . . .
and I also heard last night he has actually seen a bump in fundraising - by more than half a million since the allegations came up. Rasmussen polls I believe have Cain ahead of Romney as of yesterday. The polls & fundraising are telling us that so far, voters do not care.

People are truly underestimating how much voters dislike Romney & the rest. Short of devastatingly raw details of the allegations coming to light - proving he is guilty, it so far does not look like uncle Herman is going anywhere.

Jesoul,

Do you see where cain stands in the opinion poll currently?

Everyone is doing everything to make Romney the GOP candidate. Can Gingrich stop him?

I believe Mitt Romney will most likely be the Republican nominee. Even though a large segment of the Republican electorate will have a hard time not only supporting a Mormon, but also someone who has "flip-flopped" on many issues, he is still the safest candidate. Newt Gingrich has many good ideas, that the Republican electorate enjoys, but he also has a lot of skeletons in his closet. That includes his extramarital affairs as well as his past lobbying in Washington, DC. He just seems to be the flavor of the month, just like Michele Bachman, Rick Perry and Herman Cain once were. Just wait till the main stream media takes a look at his past.

Looks like Newt Gingrich will be his opponent, though Perry is a dark horse!

Popular right-wing talk-radio host Michael Savage has offered Newt Gingrich $1 million to drop out of the race for the GOP nomination because he doesn't believe the former Speaker of the House can beat President Barack Obama.
"While it's true that (Mitt) Romney is not a strong a conservative as many would like him to be, the most pressing issue before America today is defeating Barack Obama. And that is something Newt Gingrich cannot do," the nationally syndicated Savage said on his blog.
And why is that?
Savage has a long list on his blog, including Gingrich's ads with Nancy Pelosi, his past infidelity and the fact that -- no matter his intelligence -- when he appears on TV "he will come off badly compared to Obama and look like nothing more than what he is: a fat, old, white man."
Ouch.
So, after a lengthy diatribe in all caps, Savage offered Gingrich $1 million to "set his ego aside" and "take the money , and don't run."

Newt Gingrich will win the republican nomination then lose badly against Obama in Nov. the only hope of a republican win next yr is to nominate either Huntsman or Romney.
Re: Who Would Be Obamas Opponent In 2012 by dayokanu(m): 1:37am On Dec 15, 2011
Its a crossroad for them

For you to win the Republican nomination you have to go to the extreme right as much as possible

The only credentials you need to win the epublican nomination or become flavour of the month is the faunt you "I hate Obama" credentials as much as possible

They dont care if you dont know that Libya is in Africa or if the US has consulate in Iran, You dont even need to have a clue about anything as long as you hate Obama

Thats the problem Romney has been having.

As an Obama fan I want anyone but Romney cos He would give Barack a run among moderates who are quite numerous.

But if you want a Quality Presidential election, then Romney is the man.

With Newt? Obama can afford to go on vacation

I talk to a few republicans and the above is EXACTLY their position as well. It doesnt matter that Romney is no different from Obama in terms of policy, as long as they can remove Obama from the white house they are ok.

George H.W. Bush calls Mitt Romney ‘the best choice’ in 2012 campaign

Mitt Romney has picked up a major, if still unofficial, endorsement in his bid for the Republican presidential nomination.
Former President George H.W. Bush told the Houston Chronicle he believes Romney is the best candidate in the race—though he stopped short of officially endorsing his 2012 bid.
"I think Romney is the best choice for us," Bush told the Houston Chronicle. "I like Perry, but he doesn't seem to be going anywhere; he's not surging forward."
The ex-president, who is personally close to Romney, praised the former governor's "stability, experience, principles."
"He's mature and reasonable—not a bomb thrower," Bush said, adding that he didn't mean to besmirch anybody in the field. "I've got to be a little careful, because I like Perry; he's our governor."
Yet Bush wasn't nearly as kind about Newt Gingrich, admitting that he knows the former House speaker well and isn't a fan. "I'm not his biggest advocate," he said.

George H.W. Bush calls Mitt Romney ‘the best choice’ in 2012 campaign

The safe bet is to endorse this statement particularly if you have followed the debates and look at the characteristic and perceived qualities of Obama who they all want to defeat.

Rick Perry will be trashed in any debate with Obama. The GOP establishment is aware of this. That's is obvious and unfortunately significant weak point. Aside this, he has an impressive record as Gov in Texas.

Newt Gingrich ll have issue typically from inconsistencies of policies and principles. To me, he is more of a candidate Obama will like to face! Obama will be able to say: we agree on several points why can't you just support my government?

Mitt Romney is the best choice for GOP to mount any significant challenge to Obama. No dirt has been pinned on him so far. Impressive performances in all debates , huge financial muscles will not be lacking in his campaign as well as ideas and strategic endorsements. He may not be what Americans want but he appears to the best choice for now.

If Obama can't be reelected, I'll rather have a sound Massachusetts man who has common sense and not the crazies making noise in the GOP.
Romney will lead in a common sense way. I know he's saying a lot of things he does not mean to get nomination. But beyond Obama, he's better than the rest. And his policy won't be too different from obama's policy anyway. Lol.

And he won't repeal healthcare grin

All those crazies, bachmann et all can join dear Sarah into oblivion. Lol.

2012 election year all over again. not looking forward to all their drama. My only hope is for Obama to give VP to Hillary.

I will gladly vote for him.

Glad he is supporting our troops!! kiss

Iowa caucuses today

Looks like Romney would nick this with Santorum having a late surge

Romney wins Iowa caucus by 8 votes to defeat the latest guy enjoying the surge Rick Santorum
Re: Who Would Be Obamas Opponent In 2012 by preselect(m): 4:41pm On Jan 04, 2012
Romney will be the nominee. This says a lot about the GOP/tea party surge last elections.

Many Romney voters in Iowa votes him bc he has best chance against Obama. In other words, they are Obama haters and not Romney lovers. What an exposé. For a people that made a lot of noise about socialism, taxes, healthcare, unamerican etc. they left thier trumpets bachmann et al( thank God) and voted for someone who bluntly refused I call Obama a socialist even when the press tried to make him use the word. Lol.

Someone who had a healthcare policy closely similar to Obama's. Lol.
Interesting.

McCain endorse Romney
Re: Who Would Be Obamas Opponent In 2012 by isalegan2: 4:19pm On Jan 08, 2012
NBC News is doing a special Meet The Press featuring a debate amongst the Republican Primary candidates, live from New Hampshire.

Romney is such a worm.  (I don't know who is more dishonest and duplicitous between him and Obomber.)  Even a blustering blowhard like Newt had to call him out on his fakery.  And come across more credible in the process.  Romney was bloviating about not being a lifelong politician - Newt said, look here, level with the American people, you temporarily left politics cos you got beat the heck out,not cos you're some pious guy who had loftier goals, furthermore, you were running for president while still governor and you've been running consistenly since 1994 - and McCain beat you out in the last election primary!

Santorium also challenged him.
Re: Who Would Be Obamas Opponent In 2012 by isalegan2: 4:24pm On Jan 08, 2012
Ron Paul is also there.

So is Rick Perry.

And the other guy. undecided

Did Michelle pull the plug on her campaign since the Iowa Straw Poll?
Re: Who Would Be Obamas Opponent In 2012 by dayokanu(m): 4:26pm On Jan 08, 2012
Michelle Bachmann already pulled out of the presidential race
Re: Who Would Be Obamas Opponent In 2012 by isalegan2: 4:44pm On Jan 08, 2012
Santorum went after Ron Paul.  I guess part of his immediate tactic is to cut into Paul's conservative/libertarian support.

He challenged Paul's ability to be effective in instituting the policy changes he touts.  He followed the moderator's statistic that out over 200 bills he sponsored in congresss, Paul has only been able to get only a handful into the books.

Paul segued into foreign policy: USA cannot continue to meddle in 130 countries, maintain over 900 bases in foreign countries . . .

Governor Romney, when was the last time you stood up for gay right

Romney: Right now!!
Re: Who Would Be Obamas Opponent In 2012 by isalegan2: 4:56pm On Jan 08, 2012
Romney trying to have it both ways yet again.

A question about gay rights.  Romney says he doesn't discriminate against gays. . . one of his former staffers was gay . . . doesn't support gay marriage.

Co-moderator turns to Santorumm and asks if he will stand up for gay rights.
Santorum reiterates he does not hate the gays.  But he doesn't agree or support certain things.  That they should support and elect those who have similar views to them.  Also responded to a question that he would love his son if he told him he is gay.  undecided

Perry still tripping over himself.  DK, please do something to save your fellow Texan.  tongue
Re: Who Would Be Obamas Opponent In 2012 by isalegan2: 5:08pm On Jan 08, 2012
I was going to suggest switching to MSNBC, but it look like this already aired live from 9am to 11am Eastern time.

There was a one-hour delay on my local channel, so we're just halfway.  Looks like it's the same for you, DK.

Some more detail here:

I will keep watching "live" and post when something interesting occurs.
Re: Who Would Be Obamas Opponent In 2012 by isalegan2: 5:13pm On Jan 08, 2012
Focus turns to Health care, and a question on what sort of care should citizens expect and are entitled to from the government.

Ron Paul responds, and I paraphrase, Entitlements are not RIGHTS!  There's only one type of right - and that is the right to your liberty. What you all call rights, like Gay rights, etc, are not rights.
