The former aide of was also a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom.

His appointment had sparked up controversies, with different groups and civic rights activists asking President Bola Tinubu to revoke it.

But the president had, in a letter read on Tuesday, asked the Senate to confirm Umoren and other nominees.

On Wednesday, Umoren was confirmed alongside Isah Shaka Ehimeakne (Edo), Oluwatoyin Babalola (Ekiti), Abubakar Ahmed Ma’aji (Gombe), Shehu Wahab (Kwara), Aminu Kasimi Idris (Nasarawa), and Mohammed Abubakar Sadiq (Niger).

The remaining three nominees from Rivers, Zamfara and Lagos, Anugbum Onuoha, Abubakar Fawa Dambo and Bunmi Omoseyindemi were absent.

The nominees were confirmed after they were screened on the floor of the Senate Wednesday.

Tinubu said, in the letter, said his request for Senate confirmation of the nominees was in compliance with the constitutional provisions.

The confirmed RECs are to serve a five-year term each, and can only be removed by the president and a two-thirds vote from the National Assembly.

It also approved the nomination of seven persons for appointment as Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs).

The Senate also confirmed the appointment of Mr Shaakaa Chira as the Auditor-General for the Federation.

Anything that Tinubu sends to senate must be approved. We begged the inec and Supreme Court that we want to try something new. That Nigerians has suffered for straight eight years, but they said nope, that Nigerians must suffer for another 8 years or more.

Buhari said we'd miss him, I didn't disbelieve him, and yes, even clueless buhari is better than Tinubu. Now you see that cluelessness is better than evil genius

Tinubu was the one that placed Akpabio as senate president and anything he tells the man to do must be done. We called the 9th senate rubber-stamp senate. This 10th senate will be water-stamp. Everything Tinubu says must be done without delay. Nigeria has become a lawless country where rule of law is no longer followed by politicians.

Anyone still hoping on Nigeria is a big fool. There is no way an interested party can lead an election and be fair. The process of recruiting the RECs and the chairman must be reviewed if not the issues of elections will be left for them alone and nobody will waste his time coming out to cast vote that won't count

We are close to one party system. Una never know anything.

Before you know, all polls will be won by the APC. Then, heavy defection from other parties to the APC will follow. Don't ask me why, you know that your politicians are always after their pockets.

Finally, we go say bye to democracy as everybody go try to enter politics so as to enjoy the benefit from the government. Why? If you no do, you no go chop!

Nigeria will get worst day by day to God who made me, my reason is because our politicians have shaped the system in their favour, they keet looting our fund and resources while keeping the poor poorer and the average to be more average, so when election time comes, they push out a portion of the money looted because they know, the poor need these money, so they loot and use some to buy us to vote for them again, the high level of illiteracy is in the country is killing us badly. May God Help Nigeria.
