Sen. Natasha Storms Okene, Presents Dino Melaye to Mammoth Crowd

…Visits Late Ebira Monarch’s Palace

Triumphant Senator Hadiza Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, today, before a mammoth crowd in Okene, the political headquarters of Ebira Nation, presented *Senator Dino Melaye, the governorship candidate of the *Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)* in the November 11, 2023 Kogi State governorship election to the people of Ebiraland.

Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan told the overflowing crowd of at her Campaign Secretariat, to come out enmasse on Saturday, November 11, 2023 and vote for Senator Melaye and protect their vote till the end.

She said voting Senator Melaye as the next governor of Kogi state is the only way to guarantee the agenda of peace, freedom, development and social justice in Ebiraland and Kogi State in general.

Noting that she is strongly behind the candidature of Senator Dino Melaye in line with the bigger agenda for Ebiraland “which encompasses the ingredients of better life for all our people”, Sen. Natasha enjoined the people of Ebira nation not to allow themselves to be distracted by any form of mundane agenda.

According to her, having been sworn in as “Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and as Ambassador of the Ebira nation, I will lead the Ebira Nation on the path of freedom, peace, harmony and justice, and that path include electing Senator Dino as the next governor of Kogi State.

She thanked the people for standing with her throughout the battle to regain “the mandate you freely gave to me. I will not disappoint you.”

The candidate of the PDP, Senator Dino Melaye, in appreciation of Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, assured the people of Ebiraland that “in conjunction with Senator Natasha, “we will work for the progress of Ebiraland.”

He told the people that he has no ethnic agenda to pursue in Kogi state, adding that he “will assiduously work in every way to stop percentage salaries, kidnapping, disappearance of citizens, excavation of road during elections and corruption.

He promised to return local government administration back to the people at the grassroots stressing that there can be no meaningful development at the grassroots until the people are allowed to govern their affairs.

Earlier, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan visited the palace of the late Ohinoyi which was placed under lock believably by the state government to stop the popular senator from paying her condolences.

Senator Natasha, who was undeterred, addressed a large gathering of Ebira people and noted that she had come to the palace where she had always visited since her childhood to pay respect to the late king.

Wow , meanwhile,

PRESS STATEMENT

ADC OBJECTS TO GOVERNOR YAHAYA BELLO'S DIRECTIVE ON SECURITY GROUNDS, CAUTIONING HOTEL OWNERS AGAINST HABOURING TERRORISTS

Kogi State, 3rd November 2023

The Leke/Omede Campaign Organisation, on behalf of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Governorship Candidate, Honourable Leke Joseph Abejide, wishes to express its strong objection to the directive by Governor Yahaya Bello to reserve all hotel rooms in the 21 Local Government Areas of Kogi State from 4th November to 12th November 2023.

This directive is reckless, unwarranted, and has grave security implications. It is also a gross abuse of power by the Governor, who is using his office to intimidate and harass the private sector.

*We have reliable information that the Governor intends to use these hotel rooms to accommodate foreign militias, who will be used to create chaos at his command before and during the elections. Despite the legal restrictions on movement during elections, Governor Bello has devised this imprudent scheme to house these militias in close proximity to the election sites, enabling them to evade the movement restrictions and wreak havoc in the vicinity of the polling locations* . We are also aware that the Governor's directive is aimed at disrupting the electoral process, as it will prevent INEC, election officials, security personnel, and local and international election observers from accessing hotel accommodation during this crucial period.

We are deeply concerned about the safety and well-being of our supporters and the general public. We urge the security agencies to take immediate action to protect the people of Kogi State from this threat.

In Nigeria's history, there has never been a precedent where a State reserved every private hotel in 21 local governments for a continuous period of nine days. Remarkably, Governor Yahaya Bello, whose state faces financial challenges and has paid meagre 20% salaries for nearly eight years, plans to cover the expenses for all these hotels.

We urge the Inspector General of Police and the Director General of the State Security Service to investigate this matter and take necessary action to protect the people of Kogi State.

Our Candidate has also called on the National Security Adviser, with the following requests:

1. To nullify the Governor's directive due to security concerns and the potential disruption it poses to the whole electoral process.

2. To urgently deploy the Army to establish checkpoints at the borders of Kogi State to prevent the importation of foreign militias.

3. To station Security Personnel at the local governments to counter attempts at sabotaging elections and harming citizens, and

4. To curtail the use of homegrown thugs during elections.

We must also caution our hardworking private Hotel owners across Kogi State to refrain from cooperating with the obnoxious demands of the State Governor, as doing so could make them accomplices to the crime of harbouring terrorists.

We call on all Kogites to remain vigilant and to resist any attempt by Governor Bello to subvert the will of the people in the upcoming elections.

Signed:

Hon. Shola Adebola Samuel
Spokesperson, Leke/Omede Campaign Organisation

Kogi West Urged For Power Shift Towards Dino Melaye In Bid For Governorship, United And Inclusive Approach Emphasized

By Gideon Ayodele
Nov 05, 2023

In a passionate plea for a united Kogi West, Bonire Solomon has called on the people to set aside party politics and personal sentiments to support the candidacy of *Dino Melaye* in the upcoming governorship election. Recognizing the importance of power shift and the potential hinderance it faces, Solomon appeals to Elder Leke and Olayinka Braimoh to give the Kogi West community the opportunity to achieve their long-term goal.

While the Igala and Ebira ethnic groups lean towards other candidates, Solomon emphasizes the need for the Kogi West community to come together and use one voice to secure their place in the state’s leadership. Despite acknowledging the capabilities of Leke Abejide and Olayinka Braimoh, Solomon believes that the current trend of reality makes Melaye the most viable option for governorship.

The significance of the office of the governor cannot be understated, and those who have had a taste of power are reluctant to let go. Solomon highlights the urgent need for unity and a common front among the people of Kogi West to ensure that the dreams of the Okun people become a reality. Failure to do so may once again relegate Kogi West to a secondary position, overshadowed by other ethnic groups.

With the approaching election, Solomon urges the residents of Kabba-Bunu LGA and the wider Kogi West community to pause and deeply consider the ramifications of going their separate ways. The outcome of this unity or division will have a profound effect on their opportunity for representation in the future.

In closing, Solomon makes a heartfelt appeal for a collective vote beyond personal grudges. This election presents a chance, however fleeting, for Kogi West to speak with one resounding voice and make their desires known. With a united front, Solomon believes that Dino Melaye stands an excellent chance of becoming the first governor from Kogi West. He encourages the people to shed the mentality of minority and embrace the power they hold, emphasizing that together, they can, they should, and they will succeed.

As Kogi State moves into the election week, the hope is that the Kogi West community will align in one direction, fueled by the belief in the inherent strength of a united front. One thing remains clear – Kogi West’s destiny lies in the hands of its people, bound together as one entity with a shared purpose and vision for a better future.

Gov’ship Poll: Bello’s Plot To Close Down All Hotels In Kogi For 9 Days Clownish Desperation – ADC

The Leke/Omede governorship campaign council has berated the Kogi state government over plots to stifle opposition ahead November 11 election.

Reacting to a viral memo which purportedly emanated from Kogi state government to book all hotel rooms across the 21 local governments in the state, the spokesman of the Leke/Omede campaign, Chief Shola Adebola, said the move was a “shambolic display of clownish desperation”.

The campaign council of the candidate of African Democratic Congress (ADC), hon. Leke Abejide, said “its obvious that the level of desperation of the failed and fast collapsing administration of Alh. Yahaya has reached an all time high”.

“A recent directive through local government officials to close down hotels under the guise of booking them from the 4th to 12th of November is not only a waste of state resources, but shambolic display of clownish desperation .

“It is a ploy to have access to available abode for thugs and merceneries in order to disorganize the election.

“No doubt about the obvious fact, Yahaya Bello 3rd term agenda has failed, hence we enjoined with hotel entrepreneur’s to ignore such directive and hook up with the good people of the state to flush out this evil heritage that is designed to pass from one sibling to the other. Afterall, this government has made doing business in Kogi state hellish for business men and women in the past 8years with dubious tax regimes and policies,” he said.

The Leke/Omede campaign said it is also aware of Yahaya Bello’s plan of recruiting thugs on daily basis from neighboring states for the purpose of disrupting free elections, especially at the strong bases of other candidates.

“We call on the necessary federal authority to watch out for this theatrical desperation at play presently in kogi state.

“Elder Leke Abejide the governorship candidate of ADC together with his deputy, Dr. Idris Omede are poised in taking over on the 27th of January, 2024 after a resounding victory on the 11th of November. Our people are tired of these open display of desperation and diabolical actions, and are set to vote out Yahaya Bello and his stooge.”

Natasha has no single grip on her people in regards to the next week governorship election. Each region seriously fighting for their own son. Don't be deceived by this, the Kogi central people knows what to do and Kogi is an APC state. I'm following the Kogi election back to back.

But I believe its better they vote anyone but APC. Preferable Dino though. That's if kogi people don't want to go through another suffering cycle where they are committing suicide out of starvation. I can still remember they last experience.

I'm not from kogi ooo but I'm very passionate about the wasted potential of that state. And my yoruba people are there.

though I believe Faleke would have been a good choice but maybe Dino for now. His lack of much federal backing will help him perform to get second term.

Kogi State Looks To Dino Melaye As The Perfect Candidate To Overthrow The Reign Of Incompetence-Gbenga Bright Oluade

By Gideon Ayodele
Nov 05, 2023

In the upcoming Kogi State gubernatorial election, Senator Dino Melaye of the PDP has emerged as the clear choice for the people. With a critical analysis of the political climate, challenges, and the need for competent leadership, Melaye stands out among the candidates.

Though other candidates are undoubtedly qualified, it is the unique combination of Melaye’s competence, capacity, preparation, and agenda that sets him apart. The people of Kogi State have suffered under the current administration led by GYB, and with the outgoing Governor’s third term agenda hanging like a dark cloud, they are in desperate need of change.

Melaye, hailing from Kogi West, is not a stranger to the political landscape of the state. With his experience in the House of Representatives, as well as winning two senatorial elections, his popularity and political stamina position him as a formidable contender. Furthermore, he has garnered the support of influential political figures such as Former Senate President Bukola Saraki, Ambassador Damagum, and PDP Acting National Chairman Professor Jerry Gana.

It is not just Melaye’s individual capacity that makes him a strong candidate, but also the team he has assembled. From the two former Kogi State Deputy Governors, Philip Salawu and Adaba, to Engr Sam Ihuotu, the immediate past Kogi State PDP Chairman, and Senators Ogembe and Akpoti, Melaye’s support network is extensive and powerful.

Melaye’s selection of *Hon Habiba Muhammad Deen* as his deputy further exemplifies his commitment to inclusivity and breaking barriers. If elected, Muhammad Deen will make history as the first female Kogi State Deputy Governor, just as Senator Natasha from Central did when she became the first female Kogi Senator, reinforcing PDP’s efforts towards women participation in politics.

The solid structure of the PDP across the 21 local government areas in Kogi State, coupled with the support of 13 PDP-Governors and various national leaders, will undoubtedly provide the necessary boost for Melaye’s campaign. The formidable backing from Former PDP Governors, Senators, and Reps, as well as the PDP National Campaign Council for Kogi State, led by Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, ensures that Melaye will have both financial and political support.

While other parties may not possess the same level of support and organization, it is important to recognize that the PDP is a national party that carries significant weight. The INEC, security agents, and other election stakeholders are fully aware of Melaye’s immense support and influence, which will undoubtedly reflect in their unbiased handling of the elections.

So, as the great people of Okun and Kogi West, it is crucial to put personal sentiments, ego, and grievances aside and rally behind Senator Dino Melaye of the PDP. Together, they can confront the dangerous third term agenda and usher in a new era of good governance, creating history for generations to come.

Kogi election will be a tough one. Yahaya Bello an Ebira man seek to hand over to his fellow Ebira man in Ododo and his people are in full support of this move, the Igalas feels as majority they should always be the occupants of government house so they are solidly behind their son, Ajaka in SDP, on the other hand the Okum people have never occupied the givernorship seat and they believe now should be their turn and truth be told this is the closest they've ever gotten, havin their son, Dino Melaye as a candidate of a major political party.

Kogi state needs serious minded, focused and accountable leaders. A very great land, with plenty of potentials. Unfortunately poor leadership has kept the state from rising.

Hopefully the people of the state can use their voters cards effectively this time.

The systems are things in this country is controlled deeply by people that are very empty and shallow. .

I don't care if you like me or my statements or not. . Am not bothered.

Old and tired, drug induced brains with vegetable health issues like Buhari and Tinubu cannot be ruling a huge economy like Nigeria and not make a smoke of it.

A very indisciplined and clueless person like Dino should not be even considered for a senate role in a sane ground.

Inept, myopic, and uncultured elements.

Just a circle or rogues . . Transfering Bartons to rogues. .

Also, what is the essence of that woman to the people and their concerns?
