Why should he be immortalized? All I see is bad decision. Nothing heroic about what he did. He should have allowed Ironsi to die alone. It's not even as if Ironsi's tribesmen appreciated his mumu moves to die with their kinsman. Same way they pissed on Peetoebee supporters in the SW the moment Emile O'Corn was declared winner.

You guys like allowing lies to fester so much in this country. Danjuma made a statement that between Ironsi and Fajuyi it was Fajuyi that was more of a marked man than Ironsi. Fajuyi gave support to the Jan 66 coup plotters, and also in the SMC meeting Fajuyi was instrumental in the delayed time frame for trial of the coup plotters. There was no such time that Fajuyi offered himself to die with Ironsi. At least Col Sani Bello Ironsi's ADC is still alive to corroborate this.

I trust that Oyebanji's call will be ignored and rightly so. Traitors and selfish men like Fajuyi deserve no memory.

Adekunle Fajuyi didn't have to die in that coup. The coup plotters told him to stand aside and let them get his guest who they came for. He told them that if they wanted to kill his guest, they will have to kill him before killing his guest.
Fajuyi died protecting his Igbo guest but children of nonentities will tell you Yorubas are backstabbers and Ojukwu is brave.
Same Ojukwu that ran away and an Efik man was the one cleaning his mess.

That is another lie. Fajuyi was also a marked man like Ironsi in that coup. Make una stop allowing lies to fester in history so much. Muritala and Danjuma viewed Fajuyi as a marked man because of his tactical support of the Jan 66 coup. even Ademoyega in his book acknowledged the support Fajuyi gave them. Make una fear God with these una lies.

Even the Bible says it, that Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
He truly deserves recognition for that.

Tell me again what was this dude's accomplishment? You have millions of people living in that same Ekiti State in abject poverty and all what this Governor is worried about is some guy who has been dead for over 50 years. Meanwhile, all their schools are crumbling, sewage all over the place, and roads are in bad condition but we need to do something for a former governor. You can keep your bible quote to yourself because ain't buying it.

make sense. he wanted unity but he really didn't have to die

3ice9ce:

He should be immortalised to remind Igbos of sacrifices of Yorubas for Igbos. Unfortunately, there seems to be a curse on every Yoruba supporting Igbos. The Igbos you support end up insulting and denigrating you.

You are so much of a liar, who is changing any narrative. Ademoyega a Major in the army and one of the conceptualizers of the Jan 66 coup alongside Ifeajuna made the statement about Fajuyi in his book " why we struck" Major General Joe Garba also in his book talked about Fajuyi's role in the Jan 66 coup. make una fear God with these lies.

He did not offer himself as lamb for sacrifice he was a victim of 1966 northern counter coup. He did not choose to die rather he was marked for elimination alongside Gen Ironsi. Yoruba should stop hiding under this false narrative and seek justice for Col Fajuyi but if they can't they better just keep quite.

Yet Igbos will be abusing yorubas anyhow...😏
Yorubas are not their enemies but they see us as their enemies...

Show me an Igbo man that has ever done such a thing that Fajuyi did.... After Biafra war, yorubas protected Igbos properties in the southwest and returned their properties and rentage back to them after the war. Go and ask your father's. They will tell you if you don't believe me

We all know the role of Arthur Nzeribe and Chukwumerije dem in the June 12 election annulment... Ojukwu's ill treatment of Col Victor Banjo can't be forgotten too...

All these obidient,Lp and pitobee indomie children are too young to know all these history... No be today o.... Keep resting well, Sir Adekunle Fajuyi. You are a hero forever...

Marked indeed. Ironsi was meant to return to Lagos that night where murtala and co were waiting for him.
Fajuyi was the one who begged him to stay behind and go the next day.

In case u don't know, this was the exact reason Fajuyi had to do what he did. because it would look like he collaborated with the coupist to have him captured and killed in Ibadan.
That was why Fajuyi kept asking the coupist why must they arrest ironsi in ibadan, why not in Kaduna when he visited the north or wait till he gets to Lagos.

Fajuyi took the only honourable part, if he had attempted to safe his skin; it would be difficult for him not to be seen complicit in the coup.

Ironsi was doing a tour of the regions visiting tribal leaders during this time. He surrounded himself with hausa soldiers to reassure the northerners he trusted the north- how naive!!!
He was a sitting dead duck. More like a chicken trusting KFC.

The coupist wanted to kill him in Kaduna when he visited the north, it was the norther leaders and politicians that told them not to shed Ironsi blood in the north but to wait till he gets to the south.

Fajuyi was never in the picture until he decided to host his friend in his ibadan government house.

I think that here has been a misconception about what actually happened between Ironsi, Danjuma and Fajuyi. What the Yoruba's are saying is not exactly true of what happened. He never said he was going to die for Ironsi he was going to be killed any way. The lies told I'm this country is overwhelming

The fact your reaction to my comment is anger and curse, goes to show that you are not sincere about the explanation you seek; you are only pissed that one of your collaborators in that event that derailed Nigeria to date, is being exposed for who he is. Cry from now till the end of the world, it will change nothing. The people who have the powers know too well not to immortalize a Fajuyi who pick the side of the murderers of his own brothers and leaders of other parts of the country, just so he could retain power.

Lol. People trying to rewrite history. No one can change the truth. They can only cover it. But the greatest disservice a man can do to himself is to willingly believe in a lie.

No one can decieve you without your permission.

okay but where did the story that Fajuyi tried to save him come from?

When the hausa soldiers in abeokuta mutineed and killed ibo officers where they were having a meeting, they called a low ranking officer in Ibadan and informed him, it was this officer that came to wake Danjuma and took him to govt house to arrest Ironsi, Fajuyi came down to see them after a lot of confusion, why wasn't he killed then if he was a target, but Danjuma stated that he told him the situation and allowed him to go back in and inform the Head of state.

When Ironsi was arrested, Fajuyi couldn't afford to let him go alone. He was not a target. It was because he stood by Ironsi that he became a casualty.

Danjuma said this in an interview
