Weepnow: Whether u like it or not, English is the lingua Franca of the global world, possibly due to american influence. It's the language used in global commerce, business and politics. In the United Nations, most speakers prefers to speak English if they choose not to speak their national language, same in European parliament. If China and Russia govt official wants to have a closed door meeting today, they will speak English to each other across the table. No one forced u to speak English, it's the reality of today's world. Besides what official la guage do u want a multi ethnic nation like Nigeria to adopt as official language? Yoruba or hausa, and u think the rest will jump at it. Your argument will make small sense if Nigeria is divided into mono ethnic independent entities, but the question is how many entities because Nigeria has over 50 official languages. |
