It's interesting how the foundational belief system of a people can greatly affect their perception of observed events. I say this with regards to how people here are commenting and the topic title.
Anyway, what I see is something very good. The elephant is not "stealing". It is an animal. The sugarcane is its food. Food transfer between different species is very common in nature and is understood by all other creatures except most humans. "Stealing" is more appropriate for unauthorized intra-species transfer.
If you notice, in the video, the truck drivers also understand with the elephants and allow them take some of the produce before driving off.
Man has cut down the flora of the land to cultivate the sugarcane. It is only right to give some back to the true tenants of the land.
Man and nature in agreed balance.
