The only reason the white man is ahead is simply because they allow the smartest people to do what they know how to do best!


The system have successfully evolved such that bright minds and potentials are utilized. For example, putting a man that loves agriculture and with a massive entrepreneurial spirit can boost the agriculture sector of a state.


However ,in Nigeria and Africa at large; we are so short-termed,so short-visioned that we don't see the need to put people who knows their job in place.


Growth is naturally stifled sadly.



I will argue that if the west stop brain-sucking Africa.....stop resource-sucking Africa! Then you will truly see the growth!



Summarily, don't belittle yourself so much! We are fighting a serious battle so whatever growth we see we take! Nothing like Africans don't read!



An MSc student! For example will battle with poor light, family issues, rent, no or low paying job, bad internet, bad angry lecturers, unsure system, poor data availability, poor research structure,poor supervision, if he dares to want to really do a research; bills go wan kill am!

Indians despite their poverty, are the CEO of many Fortune 500 companies, such as Alphabet which owns Google and Microsoft.

Bad leadership at home is the reason why people are poor and not lack of intelligence.

I wouldn't go to far with this generalization. In general, people that find themselves in impoverished conditions(which unfortunately most blacks find themselves in) would put the education and pursuit of information low in their list of priorities, the main question here is than are blacks generally impoverished because that is the condition that their nature puts them in(in which case, any solution that does not involve some sort of gene therapy/modification for increased intelligence is doomed to fail), or is it because of societal forces that conspire to keep the black man in an impoverished state? If the second argument seems unconvincing, remember that while great Mediterranean civilizations produced marvelous works in sciences, arts, engineering, philosophy and many other intellectual pursuit that northern Europeans were still living in abject ignorance, pretty much what we see in a lot of African villages. When those great civilizations eventually fell, Europe slipped into the dark ages, once again, pretty much what we see in a lot of Africa right now and it took more than1000 years for Europeans to build upon the achievements of their fore-bearers to create the civilizations that we recognize today.

Africa has only been exposed for less than 500 years to the body of knowledge that Europeans were exposed to for more than 1000 years. I hope you are getting my point.

Majority of black people in Africa dont read.

How many black people read "Terms & Conditions" of any public or private service that requires their signature or subscription?

I dare say less than 0.005 percent of nairaland members have read the rules and regulations pertaining to their membership here. The same can be said of their membership on Social Media outlets like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google , etc.

Negroes in Africa have a low appetite for reading.

We have a poor reading culture except for sexually explicit content, gossips, and entertainment.
