The Anambra State government and Afreximbank have signed a $200m development agreement aimed at “charting a course for the future” of the state.

The agreement, which is in two mandates, will herald a pivotal moment in the state’s development.

This was contained in a press statement issued on Friday by Christian Aburime, the Press Secretary to the Anambra State governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo.

“Governor Chukwuma Soludo, the Commissioner for Industry, Christian Udechukwu, CEO of Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency, Mark Okoye and Afreximbank President, Benedict Oramah, jointly endorsed these transformative deals, charting a course for the future of Anambra State.
The first initiative entails the provision of capital raise financial advisory services, amounting to an estimated $200 million. This funding is dedicated to crucial projects, including the development of the Ikenga Mixed-Use Industrial City Project, investments in the Anambra Export Emporium, and the establishment of the Akwaihedi Unubi Uga Automotive Industrial Park.

“The second initiative focuses on the creation of the operational and governance framework for the Anambra Diaspora Fund, aiming to leverage the resources and expertise of the diaspora community for the state’s benefit.

“Furthermore, the mandate encompasses capital-raising financial advisory services for key projects such as the Anambra Intra-City Rail Master Plan Project. These initiatives underscore Afreximbank’s unwavering commitment to inclusive growth and sustainable development.”
He added that the signing ceremony took place on the sidelines of the ongoing Intra-African Trade Fair 2023 in Cairo, Egypt

please Chief of Defense Staff Gen Musa

Defend this nation called Nigeria from

the massive bloodshed that i see coming

take over right now and set a timeline to

return Nigeria to democracy in 4 years

so you can reorganize the judiciary

making sure Judges are very well paid -

create a system that makes the supreme

court of Nigeria decisions subject to review by

British Supreme Court of Justice - because

those evil politicians we can’t convict in Nigeria

gets convicted by the British courts —

Please Ensure Rotational Presidency of

5 years single term - for all 6 geopolitical

zones to be codified into law to promote

inclusivity - let’s see if a zone will present

and promote the worst of their kind to

take their slot at the presidency.

Yes - furthermore abolish the Senate and allow

for only house of Representatives to cut cost of

Governance - and every future political office

holder from President. to Councillor must

attend a mandatory 2 years course at NIPSS to

ensure they have the capacity to think and act

with integrity and compassion for the people

before they can qualify to run for any office in

the land. This ensures the best of us rules!!!

Abolish immunity for serving political office

holders when there are weighty allegations of

corruption with unshakable evidence - please

reform the police and let States handle their

own police and electoral commission which

should be elected by the people of each state

Strengthen the institutions by making it

impossible for presidents to appoint

people to serve in certain sensitive

institutions like Judiciary- INEC, Police iG

and make voting process devoid of human

contact - so we can all vote like we are using

our ATM cards slot it into a machine - put our

PIN codes - cast our votes and go home while

the system records it in real time and publish

to the world —-//// please this is the ONLY

way forward - i know you dan do it all in

4 years and 99.999% of Nigerians will

support you and you will be greater than

Azikiwe - Awolowo and Ahmadu Bello

Before we start the chest beating and shouting good development... do we really know what exactly the money will be used for? A good portion of the money would be spent on "discussions" .... as in how can we gather the money sent in by Diasporians? "We can make it mandatory for all monies to be sent through our bank only and ehmmm ... we will determine the exchange rate". This kind discussions would eat quite a few millions .... since I'm sure they will be held at the top hotels and allowances would be given to the participants. Then there are the " export emporium" .... the " mixed use industrial city" and the " automotive park". What exactly are these? When we understand what he is really talking about... then we can decide if this loan would really be playing "a pivotal moment in the State's development."

I commend the governor and wish to see a prosperous Anambra State that’ll be the true light of the nation.

That said, this story has been copied and pasted everywhere; word for word, letter by letter. No explanation, no context. Exact same thing being recycled.

No one has told us the meaning of this part: “The first initiative entails the provision of capital raise financial advisory services, amounting to an estimated $200 million.” Until we understand it, we may not know precisely what this whole arrangement is about.

Oga stop it!
SE are being caught in almost every continent in the world for drugs and drug related offenses!

Highest past-year prevalence of drug use was found in the southern political zones: South-East, South-West, and South-South zones (past year prevalence ranging between 13.8 – 22.4 per cent of the population) compared to the North (ranging between 10 - 14.9 per cent of the population).

I'm tempted to say you no get sense.

Well are you ok

i am tempted to say you are one of the maggots waiting to feast on the decomposing body of the almost dead country called Nigeria that you do not want to see recover - you are the one who is sick - and insane because insanity is
repeating the same process over and over and expecting a different result. with what you have seen in Nigeria in 2023, how is it different from 1979, 1983, 1993, 1999, 2003, 2007, 20019 ?

I omitted 2011 and 2015 because there is a slight chance GEJ won that election based on sympathy votes he got due to how he was treated after YarAdua died by the cabal and 2015 I am inclined to believe it was free and fair too because an incumbent lost the election

However, we are tired of having an election being free and fair ONLY when someone in power permits it - we want institutional reforms to be permanent so we can predict what will happen when anyone governs badly and also allow every region or zone have its term at the seat of power - we are tired of our voices being stifled and our right to elect our leaders being trampled upon - and IF this is abnormal to you, then you are the one who needs psychiatric assistance because even animals do not elect the weakest and least competent amongst them to rule over them, that’s why the Lion is King of the jungle, so why shouldn’t we as humans in Nigeria elect the best amongst us to lead and direct the affairs of the country ?

All these initiatives are good but my concern is the disconnnect with the people, the base, the foundation, the true seeds of wealth creation.
This governance system by which initiatives are created and then operators are sought is not the best way forward.

You often hear government has this and that fund and to which people are asked to subscribe to.
At the end of the day most of it gets stolen or wasted because there are no targets.
N-Power for instance today cannot say for sure how many jobs it has created, how many businesses it has established, or what it has returned to the economy in naira terms for all that has gone in, simply because it was a supermarket of funds rather than an exchange of enterprise, an investment by government.

It is good to establish an industrial park, but it is better to have integrated industries at hand that are ready to produce things that are targeted for a particular purpose. Then the bank will be saying, x naira into this park will result in y naira in direct returns by z period of time.

We have seen so much going into all sorts of parks, export free trade zones, etc all over Nigeria, what you don't have is exactly what has been produced from these and how those products have helped the Nigerian economy in figures and numbers.

Whereas some of the most important and recognizable goods we import from such places as the America and the far East are made in no more than backyard sheds and some originating from garages.

Government should be closer to the people. Seek to build the economy from the ground up.
For example. 3rd mainland bridge required a 1.2million dollar 'part' for its maintenance a few days ago.
I am not there on ground but I suspect it is either expansion joints or roller bearings.
These articles will be made somewhere in Germany or England or China in a workshop no larger than a church hall.
Why can't we make them here with so much machine tools in the hands of local fabricators and where these machines are unavailable this government should be aiding their purchase.
Direct investment into productivity.

Create a market, create a means of production and use these loans to fund such.
That is the way to develop rather than just throwing money up in the air, or creating infrastructure and then asking people to come subscribe without a follow through plan for success.

We can do better.
Government is too far from the people.
