How can the entire southern Nigeria not even equal to a single geopolitical zone in the north in terms of landmass?
The North central is bigger than the entire Southern Nigeria in terms of landmass.

This is the reason the North will always claim superiority over the South.

There was no reason for the creation of NC and SE

I partly agree with you, but I think the whole of NC should not be in the southern part. Anything above the Niger-Benue trough be in the North, below that, should be in the South. Nature has partitioned the thing itself.

I thought I was the only one seeing this. People will be using the Central zone to claim that the North is bigger than the South. Make it purely a Central Zone, not north-central, most of those states have nothing to do with north or south or better still like you mentioned, they join with either the south(Kogi, Kwara, Benue)or the north(Niger, Nassarawa, Plateau, Taraba).

Ikwerre and other minority ethnic groups in the dead eastern region told the British government before independence and the Federal/Regional government after independence, that they didn’t want to remain in the same region with Igbo people.

They agitated to be separated from Igbo people and it was the agitation that led to the creation of the Old Rivers and Cross Rivers States. No one just woke up over night to separate them. They agitated for it and are happy that Gowon finally caved in to their demands. it remains irreversible so your wailing will last for a long time.

The current 6 geo- political zones should be left untouch, any attempt to bring different ethnic groups together again will only amount to what we are currently facing.

Let people of the same kind, ideology, tradition, lineage and cultural background tailor the affairs of their people. That is the only way you can achieve tremendous development. Every developed country is usually homogeneous society where at least 90% of them will have same background and speak same language.

The Midwest (Benin and Delta provinces) used to be Western region till Azikiwe (SE) in connivance with Bello and Balewa (North) created the Midwest.

Ekwueme(SE) also helped Abacha (North) create the South South. The Eastern region and the Western region would have atleast been bigger in landmass if not for those divisions.

To add more context to reflect present day Nigeria, the South South Region was created from both the Western and Eastern regions of Nigeria in 1997 through the recommendation of Alex Ekwueme panel, by the regime of General Sani Abacha. Edo, Delta, one quarter of Bayelsa and the Ndoni section of Rivers states from the old Western region, while three quarter of Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Cross river states were from the old Eastern region.
