He is Nigerian citizen by birth, that cannot be denounced. Or atleast he is of Igbo nationality, that cannot be changed. He can always return to his homeland

Citizenship by birth cannot be renounced. He can come to Nigeria at anytime and you don't need Nigeria passport to be a Nigerian
SoNature:
One may have resentment towards or even despise Nigeria, but renouncing one's citizenship of Nigeria is sheer stupidity.

You can love and give everything to a country that gave you what your country couldn't give you, but never renounce the citizenship of your own country.

True. Why renounce Nigeria?
Before we were named Nigerians, we had our identity.
Before Nigeria, there was Igbo, big Nigeria cease to exist today, there will always be Igbo. Same goes with Yoruba and Hausa. For this reason, come what may, I can't deny it.

Pride Goes before a fall

Anyway he cannot loose his Nigerian Citizenship until the President has Signed it

I would advise him to ask Gov Hope Uzodinma to plead on his behalf

We don't want him back, let him stay in his adopted country as a refugee!

SA need to be fair to their fellow african siblings.

All these pettiness, to what end.

stop being tribalist SA. Learn what religion and tribalism has done to Nigeria. It has put Nigeria on life support.

Let the guy get his SA citizenship back. Stop behaving like arab countries. Also stop letting the hateful tribalist leading Nigeria, deceive you guys with hate for your fellow africans. If SA faces a war today, that guy will fight for you. Be wise SA.

The irony of life is that his people will still be blaming Nigeria government for his predicament. If Nigeria was responsible for his leaving for SA, was Nigeria also responsible for his lies to deceive his new country? Many of us put every blame on government but we never blame ourselves. Thank God we shall all appear before God individually and you cannot blame any other person for your evil behaviours
The day the masses starts taking responsibility, admitting they have a role to play to lift their nation with 4 years a big positive change will happen to Nigeria... People like pointing fingers for almost everything in this country

Remember the story of Renault/Nissan CEO that has citizenship of about 4countries, France, Brazil, Lebanon and one other, when he had issues with Japan, every other was ready to sell him out, only Lebanon (his native country) protected him, and still protecting him from the hands of Japan

First you list your wife as your sister.
Then you get married to a foreigner, get citizenship and divorce just a few years after.
Then you bring back your Nigerian wife (whom you previously listed as your sister!) to the same country, while allowing her to attach her original marriage certificate.

Where you see that one??
Citizenship by birth can be renounced, if you do as a Nigerian, you will need a visa to come in, although your visa will be different, but you still need it.

You can renounced your citizenship as a Nigerian.
It's not necessary as it's not required by Nigeria nor SA, so it was a foolish act by him.
He will need to get a Permanent Resident Visa to come in.

So for 10years the man was married to another woman in South Africa and the Nigerian wife ENDURED patiently.
By the way, it took 13 years to prosecute and revoke his citizenship after he was caught yet he remained in South Africa knowing how much they dislike Nigerians.... I hope they don't throw him in Jail.

south Africans don't exactly dislike Nigerians they dislike foreigners who are criminals.

grin grin One of the highest exhibition of stupidity is one renouncing one's country of origin and birth, all because of its economic situation. His village people finally hit him where it hurts most.
The country, the fool renounced his motherland for,has now given him the marching orders, effectively rendering him stateless. He would be hiding his face in shame now.
If he returns to Nigeria, the land would work against him, because words spoken or unspoken are powerful and activate spirits.
As he has rejected the land of his birth,so will the land equally reject him and fight against him.

NOTE: Let me stop here before some frustrated idiots with megalomania and basket brain would rant over my belief.

That is where he actually belongs and thereafter should be deported to the country he was before this episode.
