Just In: Sen. Abba Moro and Osita Ngwu become Principal Officers of the 10th Senate.

Emmanuel Odoemelam , Abuja.

Senator Abba of PDP representing Benue South is now the Minority Leader and Osita Ngwu of PDP representing Enugu West is now the Minority Whip of the 10th Senate.

However, Okechukwu Ezea of LP and Tony Nwoye lamented that out of 4 Principal Officers provided for Minority parties, PDP alone took three and NNPP took one, leaving LP with none.

Okey Ezea raising his voice said they would not take it, while Tony Nwoye asked if Labour Party senators were slaves to other parties. He frowned at the announcement of Osita Ngwu as MW of the senate.

Senator Aliero as the leader of the opposition parties, further opined that he was mandated to send the list that produced Abba Moro as the Minority Leader, signed by 41 Minority Senators, but wasn't mandated to send the list that produced Osita Ngwu as the Minority Whip signed by 30 minority Senators. He suggested that the list that produced Sen. Ngwu should "stay action" for the meantime, pending when the issue is resolved by the minority caucus

The Senate President, Akpabio however overruled the matter with reasons that what is required to produce a principal officer in the minority is just 24, while 30 Senators signed in favour of Sen. Ngwu. He said the list that produced Osita Ngwu is quite in other and is hereby sustained.

He pleaded with his colleagues to take the list in good faith, because the majority had produced Sen. Ngwu to replace Darlington Nwokocha of the Labour Party who was sacked by the Appeal Court judgment.
