I thought law is 4 years. In the UK it's just 3 years. Ours is a whole 5 years plus NYSC which is equal 6 years. embarassed
Yet our judiciary is a mess.

Hope they won't blame APC?
Most of these students don't even have WAEC results. The ones that forge results like Mmesoma all graduate here.
They only ask them to write the school's entrance exams which Primary School students can write. Finish!
I know someone studying Medicine with 156 in JAMB in one of these schools.
She's on her second year now, she wasn't admitted in any school but went to go and write entrance exam in that school, Finish!
Imagine 156 to study Medicine!

The punishment is well-deserved if the school is actually guilty of the stated offense.

But what I don't like is selective justice. More terrible things happen in other schools but the authority looks away because the owners of the schools are not in the opposition parties.

What is done to Base University now is justice and I am sincerely not against justice. But would the justice have happened if Datti is not in LP? This is like the EFCC that never jails any friend of the government in power. This is the same country where a forged certificate is used to be a president and being a drug lord is not an offense for a president.

ADDED
I make it clear here that I am not against the punishment given to Base University. But fools who hate balanced judgement are making noise as if any part of my comment is against the ban on the university. If madness doesn't run in your lineages, show me where I said the ban is wrong. I even started by saying the ban is well-deserved.

It is not selective as the Nigeria Law school is not new to such. There are many universities placed under this ban. I remember my friend who attended a school that was not allowed to graduate law students.

This case is only making news because the school belongs to DATTI Baba Ahmed. He is not alone in this.

There are more than 50 universities affected by such. Make your enquiries from the Law school

Goodvibes007:
Nigerian Law School Places Five-Year Ban On Faculty Of Law At Datti Ahmed’s Baze University.

The imposition of the moratorium was sequel to the findings of the Council of Legal Education which showed that the university’s Law Faculty was currently having a backlog of over 347 law students waiting to be admitted into the Nigerian Law School.

“Baze University runs a three (3)-year LL.B programme for some UTME candidates without the approval of National Universities Commission (NUC), Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB and Council of Legal Education.”

The statement further noted that “Under the NUC Minimum Benchmark Academic Standard (BMAS) for law degree programme in Nigerian Universities, Law is a five (5)-year programme for UTME candidates and four (4)-year for Direct Entry students.

Very shortly when the stone and garri relationship of Obi and Datti expires, the lecherous-lipped pigs will come back and accuse him of producing half-baked lawyers in the North.
nobody will come to his defense, the only criticism is this is selective justice, can the federal govt go after everyone with this same zeal, can the efcc do the same to members of the ruling party.

Meanwhile he is not the only one or university in that behaviour. This is one of the reasons fees are so high in private universities. In.their thinking, they admit many students thinking that along the line higher fees will make them withdraw during the programme. What a wicked world and thinking. It is not that they are not aware of the NUC guideline. After charging high fees, they now deploy all sorts of frustrating schemes including lectures at odd hours, difficult and excruciating examinations, brutal punishment for simple offences, (for instance how can expulsion be the punishment for using mobile phone on campus), terrible living conditions on campuses leading to illnesses and sometimes deaths to frustrate the students yearly till they are trimmed to the required number at the final year. This is wickedness. Education should not be this expensive in the country. NUC should enforce it's guidelines from 100 level. We have 264 universities now. Another 270 applications under consideration. Education provision is not a business. There are some services such as residences, feeding, laundry, inter campus transport that can be commercialized and leveraged. Any annual profit in schools must always be ploughed back because there is no end to spending. Pity the parents. We know the universities in this game and notable old people behind them. Law school should doore bannings of universities frustrating students and parents

These nigerian system is just sickening. Law degree in UK takes less than 3yrs. These people brought education to us but we want to do 5yrs as oversabi country. What are they teaching that is better than what they teach abroad if not complexity and corruption. Visiting law school website and I can smell corruption from there. No good information that can guide you right but from here you get every detail you need from schools abroad.

5yrs of the course is nothing but repetition I can bet.

You mean that it only takes 1-2.5 years to study Law in the UK shocked shocked

dude, put the blame where it belongs. Datti owns the school, doesn't run it. Blame the school authority for their excesses. Also blame the authority who knew the rules were being flaunted but waited this long to take action. If a rule is broken apply the strict arm of the law it's that simple. I don't care about Datti , he doesn't put food on my table but let us be objective when discussing things.
