This lady whose identity is yet to be known was knocked down by a hit and run driver last night along Apirikom road off Chinda by Open door Church in Ada George, Port Harcourt. She was taken to the mortuary by the Ada George police.
She is yet to be identified & no relative yet. Kindly share to get her relatives go for identification at the Ada George Police.

30 days to Christmas .
What a terrible way to find out from the pages of NL that you have lost someone and that she died in a pool of blood.

No one "affords" EMS in the US. If you're have an emergency you're going to receive care whether you can pay or not.

Depending on whether you've got insurance or not, it's either insurance pays the debt accrued or it will be gradually deducted from your paycheck. That's why many often avoid calling an ambulance or that sort of thing. They don't want additional bills on their paycheck.

However, never will someone be denied healthcare for lack of funds. It doesn't happen.

Firstly, she should have been rushed to the hospital, instead of being taken to mortuary. Some Nigerians who have been pronounced dead were not clinically dead and could have been saved with better emergency care. She was probably unconscious and presumed dead until too late.
Perhaps you didn't get that she was knocked down yesterday and so what you are saying is irrelevant?

To be honest, it's such a hard place to be for both the driver and the bereaved.
On one side, you're out on your way unaware of the tragedy waiting to strike. Then you hit a person at night where you can easily flee uncaught, amid all the adrenaline panic rush. You suddenly realize all the possible troubles lying ahead:
Police cramping on you,
The crowd massacring you,
Your young family, and all that

If all that don't creep in, you think the economy is gnawing on you real deep, how are you going to afford all bills of an emergency patient at the hospital if you decide to take the hit person there. The possibility he or she later die and you have to foot all those burial and entitled bills her/his family requests of you.

All this thought in a split second, while you could just run away to salvage yourself, but the person's life will pay for his/her fate. All you'll pay is guilty conscience the rest of your life. You could also even avail that if you have a cold heart.

Honestly, waiting behind in an accident scene is tough. Most don't and won't. May we never be found wanting in that position.

That Road is a recipe for Formula One drivers in Port Harcourt. If not already the widest road in Rivers state, it should stand as one. Drivers plying that road drive wrecklessly without recourse to human life preservation. It's highly unfortunate. R.I.P.
