Just within 100 days in office, Dr Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has been able to:

Cleared over 200,000 passports backlog he met in office ✅

Colloborated with the Private Sector to raise over N500m fines owed by over 4,000 of our inmates in order to set them free, thus, decongested our Correctional Centers ✅

Introduced technology in the security of our borders. ✅

Working assiduously to improve the welfare of our paramilitary ✅

Automation of Nigeria’s passport application, a process which is 99 per cent completed. ✅

Introduced E- gate in our international airports, reducing physical contacts with Immigration officers ✅

Reduced the whole process of passport processing to about two weeks ✅

Indeed, Dr Olubumi Tunji-Ojo has demonstrated that the ministry of interior is not just about declaring public holidays, he has set the pace in the ministry so high.

Is the Passport the only job of the Interior Ministry? Is it not his job to stop the killings and kidnappings in Nigeria?

He has failed in 75% of his job since appointment.

Don't forget the Ministry of Interior in Nigeria is responsible for a wide range of core functions related to governance, security, and law enforcement. Some of its key responsibilities include:

1. Internal Security: The ministry plays a crucial role in maintaining internal security within the country. It works closely with law enforcement agencies such as the Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Nigerian Immigration Service to ensure the safety and security of citizens.

2. Immigration Services: The Ministry of Interior oversees the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), which is responsible for regulating and controlling the entry and exit of foreigners into Nigeria. It issues passports, residence permits, and other immigration-related documents, and also enforces immigration laws and regulations.

3. Civil Defense: The ministry is responsible for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), which is tasked with ensuring the protection and safety of critical national infrastructure, such as oil and gas pipelines, electricity installations, and communication networks. The NSCDC also helps in disaster management and crisis response.

4. Correctional Services: The ministry is responsible for the Nigerian Correctional Services (formerly known as Nigerian Prisons Service). It oversees the management of correctional facilities, which includes the custody and rehabilitation of inmates, as well as the provision of educational, vocational, and skills development programs aimed at their reintegration into society.

5. Fire Services: The ministry oversees the Federal Fire Service, which is responsible for fire prevention, firefighting, and rescue operations at the federal level. It ensures the prompt response to fire incidents and provides public awareness campaigns to promote fire safety.

6. Interior Administration: The Ministry of Interior also engages in administrative functions such as policy formulation, budget implementation, coordination of activities among its agencies, and inter-agency collaborations. It ensures the efficient utilization of resources and the effective implementation of government policies and programs in the areas under its purview.

These are some of the core functions of the Ministry of Interior in Nigeria, focusing on maintaining internal security, immigration and border control, civil defense, correctional services, fire services, and overall administration within the country.
