Abeg keep quiet, is it your landing cost?. You keep mentioning NNPC, i thought you'd mention names of other importers that are importing fuel and collecting subsidy. I thought you guys understood what open market is but you didn't, that's why y'all talking bullshit. Nobody will stop you if you look for dollars and import fuel, then sell it at 1,000naira. Go and sell your fuel at any price you like and stop talking trash. was there even subsidy in the budget?
NNPC buying fuel and selling at a loss is called what?

So who says we no longer have subsidy?

You removed subsidy and petrol is 680 and diesel is 1200

Dey play make una dey play

Nigeria is paying more subsidy today than we have ever paid in our history we are paying over 550 per liters

Yes that is like that because if pump price was ₦1 in 1980 it can never still be #1 in 2023 ..

You can go and verify it's a global issue and it's like that as a.thing of nature too

Let's assume, NNPCL is making a loss, does it imply payment of subsidy?. did your ignorant self know that NNPCL by the PIA is now a commercial enterprise?. do you know what that means?. is there subsidy in the budget?. I'm asking these questions to ascertain the status of your brain.

I understand that subsidy regimes are massive corruption structures that scare away free market investors, and that removing them is like freeing self of a bottleneck. But the problem is that, I don't think any underdeveloped country can develop by playing the good boy of the economics textbook of IMF and other Breton woods. I suppose we need a combination of positive, ironclad, interventional and massive government machinery and a merit based, development -hinged private enterprise to achieve true development. Even the American govt, the leader of the developed world, is still subsidizing some of it's industries and nurturing them for international competition/national self sufficiency. Why would we discard the much needed public -private partnership model on the basis that we cannot defeat and remove the abuses that come with it?

The problem is the subsidy only make some few people richer. These set of people have held to he balls of Nigeria economy so tight that to free Nigeria from them is difficult. Let's give Tinubu at least 2 years before deciding. Buhari was only busy setting traps for Tinubu and that's where we are today.

1$ - 490 naira, Subsidy - 300 naira , Fuel - 200 naira (Buhari regime)

1$ - 920 naira, Subsidy - 0 naira , Fuel - 620 naira ( Tinubu regime)

Tinubu is now a magician

Now, would you and that guy you quoted let government set your prices, if you were businessmen, so that the poor can be helped?

Answer honestly.

Of course not. But they wouldn't have to set prices to keep them relatively low because selling prices are a function of the cost of production.

Besides, keeping prices low in a low income country like Nigeria not only helps the "poor" but also keeps businesses alive and even helps them grow. These businesses can then be progressively taxed to generate more money for the government.

This is not to say it's going to be easy implementing such a program but things will not have to get worse than they currently are to get better.

When Tinubu took over, CBN was selling dollars at about N500 to import petrol. When Tinubu removed subsidy price found its actual level at N500/litre. Now CBN has removed itself from dollar sales and price of dollars has doubled, but petrol is still able to retail at btw N600 - N650. How is that possible without subsidy?
Do you agree that Tinubu is still paying subsidy on Petrol in secret without informing Nigerians?
