MEEVEET:Maize and Soybeans farmers will also cry against importation. They will want government to protect them also. MEEVEET:You are wrong. Maize is much more important because they are used in manufacture of food, medicine, cosmetic and other items. It is foolishness and selfishness to say the poultry industry is more viable. MEEVEET:Chicken farmers can transition to selling frozen chickens with minimal modification. |

If imported chiken are cheaper, let the borders be opened. We are suffering in the hands of our local farmers. They are the reason inflation is high because everyone consumes it. Imagine local rice was not up to 7k before Disaster Buhari enter and as he banned the importation of rice see how much a bag of local rice.is.today. Obasanjo banned importation of many. Products during his era in other to grow local production. But where are the local companies today. They should consider the mljority of poor Nigerians first. 1 Like 1 Share |

PRESS RELEASE DECEMBER 4th, 2023. *Kwara Hotel: Government's Reaction Afterthought, Deceitful - PDP* *...insists Gov Abdulrahman partnered his cronies to perpetrate looting* The Kwara State People's Democratic Party (PDP) has described as deceptive and uninspiring the explanation offered by the State government on the looting of properties of the state-owned Kwara Hotel. In a statement issued on Monday by its State Publicity Secretary, Olusegun Olusola Adewara (Sholyments), the Party said the statement released on behalf of the government by the Commissioner of Business, Innovation, and Technology (BIT), Damilola Yusuf, was not only deceitful but taking Kwara people for fools as the statement failed the simple test of logic and rationality. According to the Party, the government's defense was a face-saving attempt to cover up its complicity in the criminal and barbaric looting of assets of the legacy hotel. It added that the looting of the hotel was a precursor to its sale by the present administration under Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq. The statement said: "We are disappointed by the thoughtless statement from the Abdulrahman-led government which attempted to deceive the people of Kwara on the planned sale of Kwara Hotel and the ongoing looting of the hotel properties. We insist that the ongoing looting of Kwara Hotel is a state-sponsored act, which is being clandestinely orchestrated by Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to reward his party members who have been crying for neglect. "Our Party insists that what has been happening at Kwara Hotel in the past few days is not auctioning but looting of properties. By practice, an auction of the government's properties always goes through a transparent process as against what we saw with Kwara Hotel, which was shrouded in secrecy. Normally, the bidding process ought to have been made public with items listed to be auctioned itemized for prospective bidders and such process made public. This is the conventional tradition that the government or its agencies are mandated to uphold whenever public property is billed for auctioning. "If the State government insists that the process was transparent, we challenge it to make public names of the four registered auctioneers it claimed to have engaged for the auctioning. We also demand that the government make public the list of items that were spelt out for auction with their unit price tags. "Additionally, we ask that in the spirit of transparency, the government should disclose to the public the amount of money it generated from the sales of all the property belonging to Kwara Hotel. "The Abdulrazaq-led government is reminded of the longstanding loss of trust in it among the Kwara public. Kwarans have not forgotten how the government deceived Kwara Hotel workers. The government initially promised not to terminate the employment of workers of the hotel but later deceptively dismissed them. Kwarans, therefore, do not have any trust or confidence in any statement issued by the government and its representatives." Signed Olusegun Olusola Adewara (Sholyments), State Publicity Secretary, Kwara PDP https://twitter.com/LimanBssmg/status/1731598515883708426?t=m_UZEGVyD9rK9ybOT6SdCQ&s=19

Selfish old man voicing out now because it will affect his business. What he did to ameliorate the challenges poultry farmers face in this country I can't point it out rather his venture is selling its products abroad. If President Tinubu played your kind of politics you won't stay anywhere near this great nation. |

Poultry, like rice and other items banned to boost local production have failed woefully leading to exorbitant prices because instead of bringing down prices, the reverse has been the case. The Nigerian factor of taking advantage of fellow Nigerians in any given situation has been the order of the day. Let the borders open, now! |

Wickedtruths:What's the economic value of the maize and soy farmed in Nigeria ? The global maize farm industry is about$130 billion Soy is about $180 billion dollars The global poultry industry is worth close to $500 billion dollars Nigeria don't have comparative advantage for soy and maize would take years to create such advantage But poultry we already have a comparative edge we produce cheaper than USA, Europe, Brazil and the rest even with poor infrastructure... Nigeria have potential to take 25% of the global market the potential is there that's over $120 billion economic value It's impossible to dispose USA and Brazil in maize and soy the economic outlook doesn't look great for us too Killing the maize farms and soy farms for the poultry industry is a sacrifice worth it And we import more poultry than we can ever do maize and soy 1 Like |

Finding an intelligent comment on this forum nowadays is increasing becoming a collectors item. If you believe poultry farmers are ripping off Nigerians, why not buy your own birds, feed them for a few weeks and then eat at maturity or sell at a loss in a bid to force down the prices? Apparently, a lot people do not realize the effect the the war in Ukraine is having on the prices of grain which is a major constituent for poultry feed. Do you not understand also that the recent devaluation of the naira has added to the cost of nearly everything in this country, including poultry feed? From available statistics, the cost of poultry feed has gone up astronomically, more than 300 percent in the last few years. For instance, a bag of feed that used to sell for N3500 in 2019 is now being sold for about N14000. If this increase in prices were to appropriately reflect in the cost of chicken, I doubt anybody could get a mature bird for anything less than 15k. But surprisingly, one could still get a decent 8wks old broiler for between 7 to 10k, less than 100 increase in price from the 5k it used to be on the average. What this means is that poultry farmers are indeed now poorer, when you consider the inputs and what they are made to sell at the end of the day. Yet some recalcitrant rats still believe poultry farmers are the cause of their problem. Well you can keep pressuring the government to open the boarder so we all go back to consuming diseased and tasteless chicken, pumped up with killer chemicals just to make a point. |

Nigerians are funny. Majority here want open borders so that they can import foreign rice, chicken etc. If you challenge thire patriotism, they might say, they want borders open in order to have access to cheaper stuff because Nigeria isn't producing enough, quality is substandard or Nigerian sellers are deliberately exploiting close borders by hiking prices. Yet this same Nigerians shout loudest when government don't want to patronise Nigeria made vehicles, citing high cost, quality, capacity etc |

femicyrus:When you keep voting in your fellow morons into power why wont the price of everything increase? This is the kind of senseless policies that is killing the country . Now your want to start blaming poultry farmers as though every other item has its prices reduced except poultry products. You people should think . Why is he not reducing house rent , why is he not reducing price of rice what about oil , the major factors that keeps the prices of things low is out of place but think importing poultry products will fix the economy? Because it will put your perceived enemy out of business? Your wicked heart makes you stupid, just think throught what your president is considering and ask your self which country with propering economy is practicing such? APC is about wickedness and hatred the reason the economy of the country tanged under their watch . You people forgets that when you target the business in your home country you are indirectly targeting the economy of your cou try. You people should think . You can force your enemy to sale off their shares ,thats polictics but forcing the business to close is stupidity of the highest oder. You know how many job loss each time a company leaves the country? You indirectly killing the economy of your country. The more you reducing the purchasing power of your people the more you slow your economy. Think and stop supporting fools. |
