Those do or die styled politics is peculiar to a dysfunctional society, you know one don't climb a tree from the top,it's always a gradual process but it can be phased out. An average politician can't wield gun or dangerous weapon on his own, he recruits thugs to do that for him. In a functional system when everyone is economically engaged,there won't be anyone to pay to do dirty jobs or wield guns for you.
