and with the way government is fixing prices in the power sector, I am already doubtful they will be serious on that

It does not make sense for the government to stop subsidizing the power sector at this point we are right now.

The effect of the subsidy removal and devaluation of the naira is still having a negative effect on millions of Nigeria.

Well, on the other hand, years of subsidisng power is why we don't have light 24/7.

Power is supposed to be run as a business, not as a charity. Simple and short.

We did not run GSM as a charity. People were saying that government was allowing the GSM companies to beat us up, and we was poor and broke then. But govt then did not listen, and thanks to the government not listening....the GSM companies used their profits to build up the current telecoms and internet infrastructure that we have today.

We can keep lying to ourselves that power is cheap, or we can face the truth. People like you, when GEJ was in charge were blaming government. Now, the other side is blaming government, while you are saying we are too poor..and defending government

But the simple fact is, we cannot be paying below market price for power, and expect 24 hours a day power supply, seven days a week.

Government will eventually remove subsidy on power, but not at this point in time. Let Nigerians recover from fuel subsidy and the naira devaluation first

Cement and petrol are not the same. Petrol affects everything in Nigeria and cement does not. Almost half of our forex earnings goes into importation of fuel and saving that is huge.
Very wrong analogy, go do a comprehensive research, Cement is one of the main aliment needed in infrastructural development, no one can do without it, Cement is the B in your ABC of development. Everyone in NIgeria need cement but not everyone needs Petrol. If the importation of cement was not banned the volume of cement imported will be way more than that of Fuel

Basically, we will have to stop importing refined petroleum products. That alone will save us millions of dollars that we usually use to pay for imported petroleum products. With more dollars saved, CBN will have more forex to defend and stabilize the Naira.

Again, a lot of jobs will be created. The byproducts of crude oil will also be a source of raw materials for local Agriculture and manufacturing. The gains are enormous.

Ah, Kadoso, you want to use hydrocarbon byproduct for agriculture? Ah!

It was not imported. Agbami crude oil is from the Niger delta.
Indeed. That's the Ikorodu-born, Forbes-rated billionaire Mrs. Folorunso Alakija's crude oil field... Agbami (is a Yoruba word which means deep sea or the deepest part of the sea) is operated by the American oil multinational Chevron in partnership with Famfa Oil and more.

After a series of delays, the Dangote Refinery, a mammoth $19 billion project in Nigeria, is finally poised to commence fuel production as the first crude shipment arrives at the facility, marking a significant milestone for the country’s oil industry.

Quoting industry sources and tanker tracking data, S&P Global, in a report on its website, spglobal.com, said that the OTIS tanker, carrying a 950,000 barrel cargo of Nigeria’s Agbami crude, set sail on December 6 and is currently en route to Lekki, the nearest land port to Dangote’s offshore crude receiving terminal.

The tanker is expected to arrive on December 7 around 8pm, this shipment marks the initiation of crude supplies for the refinery’s operations.

The Suezmax tanker, chartered by the state-owned Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC), symbolises the initial crude supply to Dangote’s state-of-the-art refinery as it gears up to initiate production, revealed a West African oil trader familiar with the matter, the S&P report said.

Let's don't forget Dangote has huge debts to pay. Its one thing for the refinery to start refining crude, its really up to him to either sell refined products to the Nigerian market or export it to the west African sub region where its more profitable!!
