Yes the nucleus of the team was formed by Rangers,IICC and Bendel Insurance all heritage teams. Henry Nwosu was a school boy from St Finbarrs Akoka. Himself and Stephen Keshi of the same school(the school's football captain)had a toss up for a slot on the team but Keshi was dropped because of senior players like Christian Chukwu in his position. Nwosu the youngest was a pure number 10 which the team lacked then, a flashy player and crowd pleaser.

A university roomate of mine and a popular DJ in Dublin whose mum is Tinubu's first cousin told me Felix Owolabi is their relative too who was brought from Kaduna to play for IiCC. Same with late Tunde Bamidele who was a school mate's uncle who grew up in Bauchi was brought home to play for IICC.He was a smooth playing but tough tackling defender in Rio Ferdinand style. The late Rashidi Yekini was Kaduna born too and was a road side vulcanizer discovered on the streets of Kaduna and was brought down south to play for Shooting Stars too.

Many of the Rangers players like the Atuegbu brothers were brought up in Jos and later came home to play for Rangers.
David Adiele and Kadiri Ikhana whose daughter Yvonne is married to Yakubu Ayegbeni were both fullbacks from the all conquering Bendel Inurance. Their team captain Felix Agbonifo narrowly missed out because of the status of Chairman Chrsitian Chukwu even though was flagging in pefromace like Stephen Keshi in 1994 but was undroppable because of his charisma and experience.

Also many of them were educated like up to A levels as they were mostly products of high school football which was of great stadard. Late Muda Lawal was an exception as he was a motor mechanic who did not finish primary school. Ironically he was the most handsome. He later improved himself education wise and married a university graduate.
Jessyjeff:
The 1980's Eagles was almost dominated by players from Enugu Rangers International - Okalla, Chukwu, Isima, Atuegbu, Okpala and Onyedika. Adokie, was playing for Sharks of Port Harcourt. Adiele was in Spartans Owerri. Odegbami, Owolabi, Ogedengbe, Lawal, Bamidele were in IICC shooting stars. Ikhana was in Bendel Insurance. I don't know where Nwosu was playing, New Nigerian Bank?
