Nairaland should really be changed to propaganda land to accomodate how many here speak as if they have swallowed , without deploying their own ability to think and do basic research , decieftul propaganda. Below is Ajimobi's professional History . Can you match Ajimobi's achievement to be slandering him like this ?

He thereafter worked briefly with Modulor Group (an architectural firm) as the Finance and Admin Controller, before joining Nestle Foods PLC. as the Operations Controller and later as Marketing Controller. He successfully built a new Lubricant division which became the most profitable business of the company and the largest contributor to the corporate profit. Having completed the strategic repositioning of the Lubricants department, he was moved to manage another troubled business arm- the aviation department. By 1993, he had acquired broad exposure in virtually all the marketing arms of the company. As part of the grooming programme he was posted on an international assignment to Shell International storage company of Togo, serving the whole of West Africa as Chief Executive. Fola Adeola Nko ? What a "thug" !!!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fola_Adeola

Leadership in the Private Sector

Fola is widely recognized as a maverick in the Nigerian private sector. In 1990, he established Guaranty Trust Bank which he managed as Managing Director/CEO from its inception in 1990 to July 2002, during which he firmly established the institution as a strong and credible bank. Guaranty Trust Bank has grown to become one of Nigeria's largest and most profitable companies. The bank has also expanded beyond Nigeria to other neighbouring African countries (The Gambia, Sierra Leone, Ghana and Liberia) and in United Kingdom. The bank became listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange in 1996.

In 2002, Fola voluntarily retired from Guaranty Trust Bank, after twelve years, successfully handing over to his deputy. Since this time period, Fola has served as the chairman of a range of institutions including UTC, ARM, Lotus Capital, Eterna Oil, Tafsan Breweries (board member), and Credit Registry Services.

Fola Adeola is also the chairman of Main One Cable Company Limited[3] which completed the construction of an open access submarine cable system that spanned 14,000 kilometres and provides international and internet connectivity to countries on the Atlantic Coast from Portugal to Lagos, Nigeria connecting these countries with each other and with the rest of the world which completed in 2010.[4]
[edit]

Leadership in the Public Sector

Fola served as Chairman of the National Pension Commission,[5] following the promulgation into law of the Pension Bill (principally authored by him), by the National Assembly of Nigeria. He chaired the Lagos State Disaster Relief Committee which was set up following the January 27, 2002 bomb blast tragedy in Lagos, Nigeria.

Fola was also a member of the National Honours and Awards Committee and was appointed a member of the Governing Council of Lagos State University in November 2004. He served as a member of the Solid Minerals Committee (constituted by the Federal Government) and was the Chairman of Ogun State Development Trust Fund Committee. He was a council member of Lagos State University and until January 17, 2011 served as a council member Olabisi Onabanjo University.[6]
[edit] Civil Society Engagement

Given Fola's commitment to empowering Nigerian youth to create jobs for themselves and others, he established the FATE Foundation in 2000.[7]FATE is a non-governmental organization which is dedicated to encouraging the creation of wealth through entrepreneurship, using an innovative mix of training, mentoring, loan support and consulting to support young Nigerians. To date it has served over 30,000 young Nigerian entrepreneurs, of which over 65% are fully employed by their businesses and are employing on average about four staff.

Through the vision of Fola Adeola, FATE is expanding its offerings to start an innovation centre in Abeokuta. The Institute for Venture Design in close collaboration with the Centre for Design Research at Stanford University is starting a new kind of entrepreneurship program focused on engineering, technology, and innovation with a goal to boost development of industry in Nigeria.

Fola has also engaged in many forms of philanthropy and has donated generously to many not for profits causes and religious organizations. Internationally, Fola served as a member of the Global Advisory Committee on Philanthropy of the World Economic Forum for 4 years. In 2001, Fola was invited to join twenty-four other business leaders for the Aspen Institute ISIB Annual Business Leaders Dialogue in Aspen, Colorado. In May 2004, Fola was appointed Commissioner on the Commission for Africa by the British Prime Minister Tony Blair.[8]

Fola was a Council member, and is Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria; Fellow of the Institute of Directors of Nigeria.

Introducing another "thug" who only had the bravery to fight for what is best for Nigerians while some can sit on the net slandering the good name of others. Adam Oshiomhole.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/3051462.stm

Profile: Adams Oshiomhole
By Sola Odunfa
BBC, Lagos

Once again Adams Oshiomhole has proved that he has the trust and the confidence of Nigerian workers.
Adams Oshiomhole, NLC president
Mr Oshiomhole was tear gassed by Nigeria's police but did not bow out

When the leader of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) announced a general strike against petrol price increases, many predicted defeat.

Last year a similar strike against oil price increases crumbled within two days after Mr Oshiomhole was arrested.

Critics said then that his arrest was pre-arranged in order to scuttle the strike.

Two weeks ago a political activist in Lagos issued a public warning to Mr Oshiomhole against betraying the workers.

Irreversible

A sceptical government believed that workers would not head his strike call and President Olusegun Obasanjo announced that the price rise was irreversible.

Police watching NLC members on one of Abuja's streets
Nigerian workers defied court order to stage the strike

Now Adams has proved his critics wrong with his apparently committed leadership of the strike.

He was in the vanguard of demonstrations on the streets of the capital, Abuja, in spite of threats by armed policemen.

He faced teargas attacks but did not bow.

By the second day of the strike the entire country had been shut down save for a few essential services.

Triumph

The past week has therefore been a personal triumph for the NLC president.

He was a political supporter of President Obasanjo, or so many Nigerians believed, because he was a special guest at the public declaration last year of the president's intention to seek a second term in office.

But when the issue of an increase in petrol prices came up, Adams became a strong critic of the administration.

The father of five rose through the ranks in the Nigeria labour movement after beginning his career as a shop steward at a textile factory.

Persuasive

In his march to the top he studied labour, economics and industrial relations at Ruskin College, Oxford in England and he also attended. Nigeria's prestigious National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies.

He is a very fluent and persuasive public speaker.

He is a pleasant person to meet but a very powerful individual. He spends nearly all his time on union matters.

About thee years ago he told me that his goal in life was to build the labour movement into a stronger and more cohesive force then when he joined.

He appears to be succeeding because last year the formerly fractious unions unanimously gave him one more term in office to strengthen the NLC.

His public image is summed up by a young bank employee in Lagos, who told me, Mr Oshiomhole commands respect.

In fact, the reason why I find myself re-acting to some empty responses on this forum is to provide a balance especially as some unsuspecting people, locally and internationally, may be misled about the actual situation in Nigeria. This applies to politics as well as to tribal issues.

There's nothing wrong in promoting your political party but there's everything wrong in putting others down based on falsehood. This is not politics, it is falsehood and deceit. It is in the way that I see nothing wrong in those who want to promote their tribes but why call other tribes unprintable names in order to make yours look better? It is a curious way of behaving if you ask me.

Whatever people want to write, they should consider the fact that it may be read by thousands of people, even years after it was written. At this rate, may be a watermark of 'Post Responsibly' should be put across each page on Nairaland.

From what I know, ACN party without Fashola is a toothless and clawless tiger.

On a serious Note, our country will see a brighter light if citizens are smart enough to recognize the importance of people that share the same qualities as Governor Fashola around the country.
Fashola, not a perfect leader, but yet still represents a strong and promising figure in this country. A great example not only for the future to emulate, but also for the current/old enemies of progress to follow.

We need to be smarter and pay more attention to the history of this great country.
Without any doubt on my mind, I certainly believe that the sooner we disregard and denounce criminal leaders like Obasanjo, Tinubu, Gbenga Daniel, Goodluck Jonathan and others, the sooner this country will move forward and become greater in every way.

We must emulate and embrace excellent leaders and cage criminals that call themselves leaders.

Governor Fashola is a leader all Nigerians should support regardless of the party we may belong to.

For aiding and abetting Tinubu criminal ventures, I see no difference between both of them - Fashola and tinubu are both thieves, and do not deserve our sympathy, let alone support!

Nigerian politics is a cult of corrupt and backward minds with the main purpose of enslaving the common man.Corruption is their core tenet,in one way or the other, they all agreed to be corrupt and backward in different degrees and to ever remain loyal to the cult.

For fashola to stand behind tinubu and knowing fully well as a suppose reasonable person that tinubu is a prolific criminal is a testimony to the loyal of the cult creed to support evil at all cost.To be a gentleman and at the same time a criminal.

Or is tinubu blackmailing him in a case of if i go down, you go down too?
Re: Imagine Acn Without Fashola by gregg2: 8:35pm On Oct 31, 2011
@Poster
This is harsh but not too far from the truth.
There were rumours that Ayo Salami delivered Ekiti and Osun to ACN.

But obviously, Fashola's performance (not Tinubu) delivered Lagos, Oyo & Ogun.
So far, Oyo, Ogun, Ekiti & Osun are not doing any better than their PDP counterparts
in Rivers, Enugu, Jigawa etc.

So, ACN could be worse than PDP without the Fashola effect.

Lagos council poll: PDP aspirants protest imposition of candidates

Ahead of the forthcoming elections into local government and local council development areas, aspirants in the Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are protesting alleged plans to impose candidates on the party

To ventilate their anger, some of the aspirants, on Monday, protested plans by some forces within the party to impose candidates, especially in Alimosho Local Government Area and its five other LCDAs.

Party members, numbering over 500, carried placards with various inscriptions, urging the PDP leadership in the local government and the state to allow direct primaries to pick their preferred candidates.

Specifically, they accused the local government chapter of the party of showing preference for non-members at the expense of members, with the protesting members stating that they would vote against the party if transparency was not observed in the process of picking candidates.

Speaking on behalf of others, a chairmanship aspirant for Agbado-Oke-Odo LCDA, Alhaja Tawa Oyebamiji-Bakare, said the leadership of the party in the local government had decided to flout PDP’s rules on selection of candidates, by hand picking standard-bearers.

Also, non-indigenes, on Monday, protested attempts by some highly placed leaders to exclude them and their candidates from participating in the forthcoming polls.
