And Akpabio declared his seat, vacant by December 20th,

This means Umahi has been collecting salaries, entitlements, allowances plus senatorial allowances for the months of August, September, October, November and possibly December as well as same benefits as a minister and no one think or talk about this.

Verify defection from who? The defectors publicly said so, change their flags and write to the state executives notifying them of their defection. What verification passed this?
