Period.

You'll have a Rolls Royce Phantom sitting in your driveway and own a home overseas but let your security detail travel in a $25K basic Hilux through hostile territory. It's preposterous.

The IGP has to advocate for better operational and safety standards for his men. These PEPs can afford to armor their entire convoy and should be compelled to. After all the funds they'll use is ultimately coming out of the treasury.

Don't be ridiculous. The policemen are armed with guns and it is their duty to ward off threats/attacks, not to snooze under armoured protection. They're not supposed to be fancy accompaniments or tag alongs.

I wish if each state is responsible for their state security .

As long as the president is the grand chief commander of all the armed forces omoh, attacks like this will be frequent.

Every state should be responsible for their security.. the president can be incharge of the army but in other aspect like the police and others the state government should be given some little powers to implement and control the security of their state.

Plateau killings
Kaduna killings
Benue killings
Zamfara killings
Borno killings
Abia killings
Kwara killings

If not fulani herders, its unknown gun men.

They all know this killer people and they live amongst communities, they can point out snd fish out this curpits but the system from the top is damaged
really don't know what APC government is waiting for, they promise to decentralize power 2015,we've re heading to 2024 we are still in the same system, if the President takes the lead in reforming the structure of Nigerian nation... Other politicians will fall inline, we are over due for state/community policing, that doesn't mean we would scrap the national Police, all will just has its jurisdictions..so that there won't be any state gov abuse of any kind..

State Police sounds like a good thing .... it is the better thing to do ... as done in other countries ... but we have to look at our local situation ... our local politicians. You have State Police ... the Governor will misuse them. Just imagine a Governor like Wike being in charge of State Police.... and there will be worse than him.

Would given the Igbos Biafra Republic solve the problems they have created solved their problems?
I doubt. Drug related issues, Armed robbery, Kidnapping and so forth will reign supreme.
People that cannot admister themselves will become regional calamities.

Apt! May I also add that this current IGP seems to me a lily livered man; someone incapable of having his own convictions & standing by them.

A Failure will always look 👀 for an excuse.

My estate no get police, yet no incident of robbery or kidnapping, the security network is up to par & tight.

Each community in each local government has a registered vigilante security group with the state government that are permitted to bare arms.

The major reason Jonathan was denied another term by a combined effort of external and internal powers regrettably supported by some citizens like me was insecurity in the Northeast. Most Nigerians thought that a change in leadership would effect a successful end to the insecurity but it has remained a disappointment till date. Nigeria is now a thousand times less secure than 2015 and the present Government seems to be out of idea for their nearly 9 years in power .

There is no civil way to respond to this so I'll take a rain check on typing a pointed rejoinder.

You're trying to make the case that security operatives should be sent into highly volatile conditions with nothing more than the shirts on their backs and a tin-can transport because they're given guns.

Tell you what, I'm unbelievably tempted to respond with a torrent of expletives because anyone who can display such wanton disregard for the safety of another human is a consummate a$$hole. No ifs and buts.

SadEast biafran Republic killing their own leadership and people to find excuse to blame other regions of marginalisation.
Do you realise how long it will take to develop an individual to level/achievement/status/ influence of a Chris Uba?
Then a worthless tout will kill him in cold blood like they killed Dora's husband and then you will find that an uncount and sensless druggie like Simon Ekpa and Kanu will become their leaders without sense and decorum.

Nature abhors vacuum. So when you kill your best hands, your worst one's will assume leadership and sink you to the gutters.

It's because they always use bullet proof vehicles as their personal cars while the security operatives stay inside Hilux.

You're yapping a ton of crap.

To cut the long story, have you bothered to ask whether the policemen in protective duty in the motorcades of governors travel in armoured vehicles? The prados and hiluxes carrying policemen in the convoys of governors, ministers and other government officials, are these vehicles armoured? If they're not, then what's your point really?

Fully kitted, yes. And they often are. But armoured vehicles, not pragmatic. Not practicable. Not necessary.

The essence of armouring private vehicles is to protect VIPs. Not to protect security men. The security men are equipped with guns and bulletproof vests, primarily to protect the VIPs they're escorting and secondarily to protect themselves while at it.

If they are not alert and competent enough to engage threat actors, then I don't know what their job is. Certainly it is not to look good for instagram.
